You got to see Sportscenter or TVG to see what happened yesterday. I saw it live and still think it is the weirdest and funniest thing I ever saw at the horse track. Calvin Borel was one Pissed Off Cajun.
I saw it...wow...
I'll bet he's got a mean left hook, but watching too jockeys fight is like watching midget wrestling...can't do it with a straight face. LOL
In looking at Calvin's face when the other 3-4 guys were holding him back, all I could think of was Jack Nickleson (sp) in The Shining and Charles Manson in the way they had that deranged out in left field look on their faces. I have heard of the Flyweight Division in Boxing but these 2 fellas together barely break a couple of C Notes soaking wet.
Wow what caused that? I'm not into horse racing....was it related to an on the track incident? In looking at Calvin's face when the other 3-4 guys were holding him back, all I could think of was Jack Nickleson (sp) in The Shining and Charles Manson in the way they had that deranged out in left field look on their faces. The first race of the Breeders Cup is the Marathon on Friday. Around the far turn Javier Castellano's horse was on the rail and decided to make a right hand turn without using the blinker. Javier's horse ran into Garett Gomez's horse who came unseated airborne and is an amazing feat in itself that he stayed on the horse and kept the horse from falling. Garrett's horse then impeeded Borel's horse who lost a BUNCH of lengths. Borel went from about 5th to around 9th place then circled the field and came on fast to finish a hard charging 4th. Borel would have won the race if not for being pinched like that. In the winners circle, where they have the phone where the Jockeys talk to the stewards after the races for riding incidents, Borel talked to the Stewards and then went after Javier. They both threw punches and had to be seperated. Borel had to be restrained by 3-4 people and Javier was calm the entire time. Borel kept trying to get at him over and over and had this look in his face like he could kill him. I could hear over the TV Borel saying "let me at him" and "I am gonna get him". It took 3 guys to literally escort Borel to the Jockeys room. Evidentally when Javier got to the Jockey's room they went at it again. No video footage and they cleared all the media out. My guess is Javier will get suspended over bad riding and Borel will get suspended for his antics. They are to meet with the racing officials and stewards tomorrow.
Got it thanks. Well I tuned in to watch the race and got pumped for her but dang what happened?? Is that really a racing tactic to hang 18 lengths from the lead?? Is that how she runs normally runs?
I know NASCAR pretty good and that's a tactic on super speedways but horse racing?? Just curious.
Zenyatta is a closer. That is her racing style. Some horses are speed horses where they want to be on the lead throughout and see how far their speed will take them. Some are what I call stalkers that lay just off the pace, others are closers which would be the next tier behind and then there are the Lady Z of the world that are the deep closers. She did get squeezed back at the start which did cost here a couple of lengths plus it was her first time racing east of the Mississippi. She has only raced on dirt 2 times in her career both at Oaklawn and all the rest were on synthetic surfaces in California. That has been a knock on her career in that she did not ship all across the country. She is a better Mare than I gave her credit for because she ran one helluva a race. Blame is a very good race horse. Won 3 of 4 starts at Churchill Downs and is the best older horse in the country. There is no disgrace in Z losing to him. The real sad part is that Lady Z is probably the best racing mare EVER certainly in the conversation and certainly in the top 2 or 3. Personal Ensign, Rachel Alexandra, and some others would be in that conversation as well but the sad part is that Blame will not win Horse of the Year so through all her accomplishments she has never won that title, Rachel last year and most likely Blame this year. Still a very good Horse. I thought she never had a chance today after the first half of a mile and she immpressed the heck out of me. I picked Blame to beat her but she still ran a great race.Got it thanks. Well I tuned in to watch the race and got pumped for her but dang what happened?? Both of them got fined for the fight, and Castellano got 6 days for the bad ride. Sounds about right to me. Calvin had every right to be PO'ed, the only thing he did wrong was trying to settle it in the winner's circle and not the jocks' room. If it had happened there we never would have known about it.
