[I have had both through the years, but here is my take the minn kota has a hesitation when you push the pedal to go which can be big trouble
when you are fishing the river under trees and wind is blowing. the motor guide has no hesitation and keep you off the bank and will go that instant when you push the foot pedal, i like the smaller foot control that motor guide has over the larger bulkier minn kota, but the minn kota may be more durable.
Good point on the little motor throwing you out of the boat. Although it's kind of fun when you have a cocky coangler. LOL Whoops
FYI, the MotorGuide digital tour series has the feature that lets it slowly come to speed as well.
After my last tour edition burned up a month out of warranty and it was 200.00+ to replace the board I went M/K the difference is unreal and with the fortrex just that much better, so far 3 M/k since my MG.s and I cant hurt them the Kotas get my vote
