Well guys, the wife gave me my walking papers a couple of weeks ago. So since I don`t have anything place to go and losing my big garage(which I love) to work out of and nothing or nobody(all my closest life long friends and family has died) to keep me here I`m going to try and live out my dream for my last remaining days. I`m moving to Ely Minnasota. I`ve been going up there since i was 3 and love the place. Th epeople are so friendly and it`s truely God`s country.

I`m looking into working at a resort working has a dock/guide. I know alot of lakes up there like the back of my hand. I`ve been over to guide for 1 of the bait shops up there before and the wife wouldn`t let me stay for the summer. I have a nak for finding fish when alot of people wouldn`t be getting bites. I`ve done some guideing down here a few yrs ago and enjoy taking people out and teach and show them how to catch the fish up there. Plus I do a killer shore lunch. But I`ve always dreamed of trying this but never had the b*lls to make that jump. So nows my chance. Going to buy a motor home so I don`t have to rent and I`ll always have a roof over my head. It don`t take much to make me happy,a TV place to eat,sleep and take a shower. I`m a simple man. Find me a burley woman who like to fish and camp....LOL

SO if any of you all want or need their boats carpeted,deck ext or anything else you better hurry,,planning on being gone by the last of april. I`m still going to be on here buggin you guys and going to miss all of you. You all are a great bunch of people,,,I`ve met alot of you all and haven`t found 1 single person I didn`t like..have made some great friends along the way.So come on guys help me and you out. Needing to build some money up to make my move. Plus if anybody comes north, I can put them onfish quick and have some fun...

Doug I'm sorry to hear this but it sounds like you are making lemonade out of lemons I wish you the best. I know I will be interested in reading a north woods fishing report. With your motor home you can come back to Kentucky about September when the lake freeze up there.

I love that area! Have been up their a few times. Even took the family to the North Shore for vacation last year. Enjoy, I am jealous!

I have been doing a trip every year and 2 trips every other year for the past 10 years...........

Good luck man! I had a friend that did something similar a few years ago. He's still at it and loving it. Spends his summers in the high mountains and winters in the New Mexico low country. If he doesn't like where he's at he just pulls stakes and drives his house somewhere else.

Shouldn't have any trouble finding a burley woman up there to keep you warm. From what I've seen there is a staggering population of that type! Let us know where you'll be guiding at. I usually fish out of Grand Marais but may make it to Ely one of these days.

Hey Ted, I know where you go,,,i`m not much on the paddling and more,,,too much like work,,,lol but I hope to make a go of it. I know the lakes really well up there....you could name a lake and i could almost drawn you a contour map been over them so many times with a dethp finder. But hey come on up to Ely,,I`ll put you on fish fast. I love that place

Been my sincerest pleasure to have met you and spent some limited time with you. Keep us up to date as you make the move and settle in.

I wish you all the best, and know deep down inside you will do well and enjoy life no matter where it is or what you are doing. You're just on of those can do guys that finds ways to make things work in an enjoyable manner.
