Thanks for the River report, Dont hear about too many Blues coming out of the river, are they in all the pools?

Fishing was hard and super slow. The dam at Wilmore gave up one cigar on Sat. Nothing else. Wanted to get serious today, so stopped by Galloway for bait and fished lock 4. Power bait grubs tipped with wild bait produced nothing. We started livelineing with a stinger and caught three pig sauger all about 17'', a 10# blue, and about the same size drum. It should'nt be much longer for fishing to really improve. Hope this helps a little.

Are there sauger in the boonesboro area of the KY river.
Been really curious about that myself....anybody know?
Or maybe not enough there to make it worth someones time at boonesboro..?
Yes sir, there's sauger at Boonesboro. My last three trips there looking for sauger resulted in nothing but white bass and channel cats. Not complaining, just no sauger. Blue cats are all through the Ky. river. Anybody fish Monterey lately?
Glad to hear the river has Blue Cats. I caught one last year and thought it looked like a Blue but folks kept telling me it was an off color Channel Cat.
I have caught a few small Sauger on the pool above Lock 10. I read on the Ky Fish and Wildlife website that they had stocked that pool with Sauger and Striped Bass a few years ago.
I used to park over where Bananas was and walk across, don't know if they'll stop you from fishing there now or not. Also parked where the electrical stuff is by the dam but I think they put an end to that. I usually just take my canoe across now, less trouble.
I've caught sauger there at Boonesboro on the rocks several times. I think the closer you are to the Ohio the better your chances at blues. The upper river isn't really blue territory but I've caught a bunch from 1-3. They are stocking hybrids and sauger all over the river. Sometimes this time of year you can't fish because of all of the 4-6" hybrids.
Ted; you're right as rain. Have you ever fished the lock and dam at Monterey with the 'ol Alumacraft? Personally have'nt been there in years, and am anxious to do it again. Again...access. Hope you and the crew are well. Michael.I used to park over where Bananas was and walk across, don't know if they'll stop you from fishing there now or not. I've fished it a couple of times but only during turkey season which is when I'm normally in that country. There used to be an old guy that would let you put in if you asked, met him at the store one time but I'd say he's gone. Might be able to get access via canoe from the creek that runs through Monterey but I've never tried it. Some nice whites there and at lock 2 at lockport. When I'm up north I usually drive to Lockport just because access is easier and it's not that much farther.
Did you fish the beach side at lock 7? PM me if you want to go after deer season. I can't get anybody to help me drag the canoe down the hill when it's 30 degrees. Sometimes I can find them in the canoe (sometimes I can't too...) I just hate not catching anything from the beach when I can't get to the other side. Ted
Ted; I've never fished Lockport, and now you've got me wanting to try it. I used to have access to Cedar creek so I could avoid the folks on the hill, but again that was years ago. At Boonesboro, I just use the park ramp and anchor as close as I can without drawing attention from lawenforcement. I'm suprised I have'nt got a ticket for doing that yet, and probably will in the future. My wife calls those 30 degree trips "X-games" and says she's not gonna sit in my "Tin can all day and freeze MY can!" What a gal. Let me know when you're free for Lockport, I'm all in.I've fished it a couple of times but only during turkey season which is when I'm normally in that country.
