How do ya tell a female bass from a male/female hybrid bass?
You might want to email that question to a fisheries biologist.

Just out of curiosity, why do you want to know?
The female fish is the one griping about things!Sorry Bugs and Gills!![]()
Male/female hybrids are supposed to be like really rare arent they? I heard they found one in the patomic river. Being that it made news tells me there probably arent many.
Occasionally really old females can start to display male characteristics, or so Ive heard from a Texas Fish biologist.
All I know is you typically see a more pointed lower lip on a male, more rounded on a female, I do know that.
Thank AndyG, I did not know that. Toad, I'm not sure why anyone wouldn't want to know?! I like to know thinks lke gender, scar marks, small deformities, what it had for breakfast, sore crushers or not, color. You can find out a whole lot more than you think by examining the fish you catch.
