Here is my 2 cents...if this is what you want to do and you have the means to do it...then go for it. But let me tell you something, I know the guide business and if you go up there and set your rates at half the going rate of the other guides, plan on coming home because those ol home boys there that make their living guiding will ensure you fail. While there you might want to put up some concertina wire around your motor home and boat and get a big nasty watch dog. It is one thing to come into a rural area and compete for guide business but it is another to come into a rural area and try to compete by taking the bread out of the local folks families mouths by undercutting the established going rate for a guide. You will only as successful as a guide as your reputation is good and that is especially true of the reputation you build with the locals....and especially the local guides...you earn that respect by proving yourself to be a good, professional guide, providing a professional service....building a successful guide service is not done overnight and it certainly is not done by alienating the folks you are gonna be living and working around.
