Shimano just for the warranty is hard to beat.
Falcon Lowriders are excellent rods too.

My opinion, if you're going to spend that much, buy something made in the U.S. Loomis GL2, Falcon Lowrider, St. Croix Premier, All Pro, and others.
Shimano just for the warranty is hard to beat.
Falcon Lowriders are excellent rods too.
I love my Shimano's for Baitcasting. And the lifetime warrant is awesome. I have had to take advantage of it. Very slick.
I did not like the Shimano Spinning Rods. I like my St. Croix Spinning Rod.
it really depends on what you like, everybody has a different taste...I picked up the Duckett rods a few weeks ago and they are impressive to say the least...I've heard several loomis guys say they are switching to Duckett
I enjoy a good cane rod. I find it a little difficult to throw cranks, spinners, lipless, and long cast with jigs, shakies, and texas!Got a couple of cane poles in the garage for sale at the right price, or could point you in the right direction to cut you own. Last I knew they were free for the cutting.....so the price is a bit lower than a Shimano! LOL, just kidding, but I do know a place to cut some cane rods,.....did that for both my grandchildren.....brings back memories of my childhood on the creek.
B&R Outlaw Rods. Made in the US.
I bought a couple last fall and I'll be replacing all my rods this year with them.

While all of the above may of useful replies, I gotta think that the "best" rod would depend on how you intend to use it. For example, you might pick a "best" differently for bass fishing than striper fishing, or throwing cranks vs. flipping jigs, spinning vs. baitcaster, etc. How do you intend to use the rod? May be folks can give you a better selection to choise from based on that info.

St. Croix Mojo Bass or the Shimano. I have a Cumara spinning rod and I LOVE it, I feel every little tick on my finesse baits.
Any Shimano rod near $175. I use the $50 convergence rods, and the $250 Cumara and several in between. All great rods.
Anyone else out there like the BPS Extreme rods? I have several of them and think they are great! I also have a strong liking to All Star rods.
The extremes are good rods. I have a 7'6" flippin stick that I still use when I throw swimbaits and flip heavy stuff.
Warranty is a big reason I like shimano rods so much. The rods shimano makes will not be discontinued or changed and they all have lifetime warranties. Thats tough to beat.
i have 12 extremes and i love em.i talked with rick clunn and stacy king at classic about bass pro rods and both agreed that a good rod is one that feels good to you.what i like the next guy might not like.
