Game one against Butler. Should be interesting. New arena, new atmosphere, new team. I honestly do not know what to expect from this team this season. We will start finding out tonight. looking forward to it. I see the game tonight going one of three ways...Cards win a close win because the control tempo......Cards lose a close one because Butler controls tempo....or Butler wins by 30 because new starters are shell shocked.
What say you? (Clyde, we know you have Butler winning by 40, so no reason to post).![]()

Boy was I wrong. Louisville is rolling...
Quite impressed by their hustle and swarming defense.
Those that know me know the way I bleed! It is VERY EARLY but I liked what I saw. The hustle, the grit, Dang (sp) will be starting before too long.
They looked great. I'm guessing that new arena smell had given them some motivation as well.![]()
very good looking team and as much as i hate to say, i kinda enjoyed watching them.![]()
That was definitely fun to watch. I hope they can play with that intensity every night. Lot of work ahead, but nice start to the season. How about Elisha Justice playing most of the second half with Siva in foul trouble and running the offense like a veteran.
I'm trying to turn over a new leaf and watch Louisville Basketball objectively...I guess that's my little olive branch to my Fishin.com Cardinal bretheran. LOL We'll see if it lasts.
I thought their defense was aggressive. I do think they got lazy in the second half and allowed Butler to eek back into the game....got a little closer than it should have, within 9 or 10 at one point late I think. In fairness, it also looks like Butler is a wee bit overrated....may need to change the name from Butler to "Mack and the Dawgs"....
But regardless, good game for Louisville to open up the Chicken Bucket. As always, I look forward to the UK/UL game. Everyone on the court and in the arena will be intense and playing with gusto - Should be a barn burner. I'm always fearful for our young freshmen, because they can say they understand that we are rivals....but they really have no clue until they lace up and step on the hardwood that day.
Oh yeah, and Pitino still looks like the Crypt Keeper. LOL
I am sort of on the same page with you Split, not really sure how good Butler really is. They should be good but Jennings taking the ball to their big man and getting him in early foul trouble early was a big help. I like our front line and the way the rebound and block shots. Wants Deing gets a little experience we could be very good. It is nice to see Marra shooting like pitino always said he could. Our depth is a little better than I expected and Justice has been a pleasant suprise.
I guess we won't hear Msgt. Mills for a while, he has never been good at eating humble pie.

I love this Justice kid, he has heart and then some. He really plays hard and makes good basketball decisions for a Frosh. I am also tore up from the floor up over VanTresse, this big fella is gonna be a very good player. Buckles is developing nicely as well. C Smith is explosive and Marra has finally figured out you play defense with your feet not your hands.
I said it before the season started and I stand behind it now, this team is not nearly as bad as everybody wanted to believe. Top five recruiting class next year with this present team, Oh my the future is so bright I may need to put on my shades. Yea, I'm keeping it real, I know they are gonna get smacked around some this year and Big East is strong again, but hey it's exciting and I'm ready to watch this season with bells on.
Did anybody notice Vitale was exceptionally obnoxious during that game. He was about to cry that he and his cronies called that one all wrong. He had a three minute rant on what all Butler did wrong to loose that game and threw the Ville no bone at all. Finally Shulman says D ick, Louisville played some awfully good defense in this game as well.
Doug Gottlieb, tool, ''self proclaimed basketball know it all'' had Louisville going down in flames............................................ ..NOT....
good win for the cards indeed.... never good at eating humble pie...I eat it with the best of them....
This Card team is young and have nothing holding them back....
Butler is not and i repeat not the team that went to the final game last year.... Losing their main player from last year's team hurt big time... It seems the rest of the Butler team did not know how to play the game with out their star from last year guiding them on the floor.
But it's the first game and all the Cards radio talk shows i've listrened to so far have the Cards walking over everyone in their path now after this win.....
I guess the talk about the Football team is over with now, since they lost last week to South Florida.......
