i fished the upper yesterday morning with freind and we did ok, we caught 9-10 sauger a peice and some drum but today they had shut down, more than likely due to the front that is hanging out with the cooler temp and high clouds.he gets out aa lot more than me and according to jim its nbeen kind of hit and miss. should be getting real good in the next few weeks i would imagine hopefully it will turn on real good when thanksgiving rolls around and i get several days off
When you guys are talking upper and lower, what are you referring to.?? Are there two dams .I generally fish Markland , but Louisville about the same distance from me ,. I've fished there a couple times below the falls. Thanks
yes there are two dams on the river in louisville. i prefer fishing the upper dam for sauger and the lower for cats, hybrids and stripers although under the interpitive center at the falls is my favorit all around spot when the water is right.
how did you get your boat up there in that skinny water ?
jfw, I think we needed to be farther off the rock wall dam more. It's still a skinny channel with this low water level.
There's an exact route you have to take to stay in the channel,
it zig-zags from one side to the other.
If you don't know it, you'll get in 2' of water real quick.
Many people have tore up their props over there.
But basically you have to go up beside the duck pond to
the second openining in the rock wall then straight across
to the creek on the opposite bank then up that bank.
It's really dangerous during low water if you don't
know where you're going.![]()
Yeah I know that route but me & Tyme tried that and we hit rock, someone said you have to stay on the INdiana side and then move over to the duck pond about halfway up , then head back to Colgate creekThere's an exact route you have to take to stay in the channel,
