Jones is gone, no doubt. Knight probably is too, but what if he stays? With Davis, Gilchrist, Teage, and Witjer coming in for 2011-2012 season...were Knight to hang around another year...could be quite impressive having Teague on the floor at point with an experienced Knight who has grown up a little and moved over to the 2. IF a college team of freshmen can win a national championship, there is no doubt in my mind that it will be one of Cal's teams given the recruiting....but I think it may have to be one of those deals where the planets just align with a special special group. Last year was as excellent an opportunity as any. Next year, if the players incoming are as advertised, could be similar.
The bottom line is that it's dang hard to win a championship, even with sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Tough challenge with freshmen. I don't believe that it CAN'T be done...so I'm hopeful...but even the Fab 5 didn't do it.
Oh yeah, and if a team can't make more free throws than they miss, expecting them to make it through March with some hardware is like expecting me to sit down in front of some chocolate cake and not eat any. Aint gonna happen!
