on Lake Cumberland, what provider for internet/data/emeail/phone has the best coverage? ATT, Sprint, T-mobile???????

I'd hate to buy the phone with all the data stuff, and then find out I'm in a dead spot at the dam, or up around Jamestown, or up in Wolfe.

Any experience appreciated.

I can only speak for 2 carriers. I have ATT and it works OK around Jamestown. I generally at least have some service, but there are dead spots and it's never very fast.

My father bought a Virgin Mobile pre-paid phone recently and his coverage on Lake Cumberland is terrible.

Any body have an update on best cell phone data coverage on the lower lake from Wolf Creek on down to the dam for accessing the web?

I ended up getting the wife and I HTC Desires 6275 From Bluegrass Mobile. There's a shop right outside Jamestown FYI, we bought ours in Elizabethtown KY where we live.

The plan we got is there All-in-one Unlimited Talk, Text and Data Minutes in home area with 600 roaming minutes plan and 50mb nationwide data plan.

We have had the phones since Feb 11, and have used the heck out of them, especially checking weather and email, surfing the net and texting. The monthly Bill for both phones is about $135 to $140, and that includes all taxes and fees. We have never had an excess data or minutes charge. Home area inlcudes all of LC and local area. We run from Connely Bottom to the Dam, and spend most time in Wolfe, Caney, Lilly, Beaver, Otter, and Indian Creeks. We have never hit a dead spot to make a call or hit data access/the web.

For us, it has proven to be a great plan, with very even bills, as the offerred use time and data plan we just have never exceeded.

I'm with AT&T and get good coverage at the dam and on down river. I kept hearing it ring last Friday as I was on the river as far as 15 miles down from the dam. So far as the lake I've no idea as I don't get out on lake Cumberland. I only talk and text and don't have the internet option.
