Just finished a week on Cumberland. Schools with decent fish in the creeks were hard to find and we decided not to fish the main lake. We did find a few schools in a creek early in the week and down rods were the ticket but their were still a lot of small fish pulling down our gizzards and letting them go. We could get fish pretty quick if we could find a school and stay over them in the high winds. Bottom fishing was slow for us but others did well with it. At the cold snap, we started to see lots more bait headed to the backs, so the winter patterns will be on very soon. Some of the guys past the time away with casting top water baits early in the week and the Ky's/SM did not disappoint. Sammys and spooks worked well, but I have no idea if that bite is still on as the guys throwing the baits left before Thursday.
I did go out and cast bucktails yesterday morning for a few hours and got several hits but no hookups. The fish were still pretty deep which makes the casting bite much harder to find. Still, it was nice to draw some strikes..
