I fished again on Sunday and had 4 keepers. Talked to some guys at the ramp that had 7 keepers. It was slower than it had been earlier in the week. The whole entire lake isn't on fire but some spots are really loaded with good fish right now. Last week was the best fishing experience I have ever had on Rough - I had 6 fish over 3.5 lbs overall and two between 5-6 lbs.
They were really shallow the Sunday before last but seem to have been deeper as the week went on. I think that part of it is that you need to find structure like rock or stumps - they are pulling water hard and stumps that I fished last Sunday are 2-3 feet out of the water now. Some of the stuff I was fishing now just has a muck bottom to it and I wasn't getting any action there. Fish were being caught on all kinds of lures - caught them on crankbaits, spinnerbaits, brush hogs, tubes, and jigs. So basically, if you find any rock or stumps underwater, I would fish them with all of the above lures to find what they want. Keep moving until you find something special.
Hope it lasts.....I was wanting to head back this coming weekend.
