    Don't ask Don't Tell

Why can't these liberal goobers just leave it ALONE. What's in place works just fine so leave it alone. A Marine being shot at just wants a guy as good as him to have his back and vise versus. Be Gay if you want but it doesn't have to be paraded like a show pony.

LEAVE IT ALONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why do Libs try to make everyone see THEIR point of view. I don't want that crap shoved down my throat. I heard this morning that a school system in North Carolina had the Easter and Christmas taken off of their school calendars, you have got to be frickin kidding me. Liberalism is RUINING THIS COUNTRY, RUINING IT!!!!!!!!!!

    Re: Don't ask Don't Tell

You know you have to go through the enlightenment of their ways resistance is futile....Free love, free money, all are equal, no hurt, no pain, no rich, no poor, no blame and no responsibility.

Actually......what am I thinking? They might have it figured out!!!

Seriously I could care less about ones sexual preference.....just don't expect special treatment. Go about your business and your job and we will be just fine like any other person. The constant demands of the gays and lesbians does get on my nerves.

At some point unless your black, gay, poor, illegal immigrant, muslim or part of some terrorist group you won't have a voice in this country. Jeez....

I know people whom are probably Gay and I really don't care. That's there business, but don't make me ''HAVE TO'' understand it.

I agree with your Post Don, it's like it's their life's mission to make all us dumb closed minded people see the light or something.

Sometimes I wonder if that point in time isn't already here today...it sure feels like it is.

I agree...leave things the way they are and we'll all get along just fine (like we do now)....don't ask, don't tell, don't nobody care one way or another what you do after you leave work and go home.

    Re: Don't ask Don't Tell

It will almost certainly be repealed at some point. To me, the best argument for doing it sooner rather than later is that if it's repealed by the legislature, the armed services can plan the removal of the policy, and do so in a controlled manner. If it's not repealed, there's the possibility that it could be overturned in the courts (one judge has already ruled that way), and if that happens, they will have to stop enforcing it abruptly, with no planning.

Army Chief of Staff General George Casey, Air Force Chief of Staff General Norton Schwartz, Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Gary Roughead, Coast Guard Commandant Admiral Robert Papp, Defense Secretary Robert Gates, and Joint Chief of Staff Chairman Admiral Mike Mullen, are all in favor of repealing "don't ask, don't tell," either now or in the future. But I guess they're just a bunch of "liberal goobers" who don't know what they're talking about, trying to shove their beliefs down somebody else's throat.

Nobody's trying to force anybody into "understanding" homosexuality, or "seeing the light" about anything. Heck, I'm a pretty liberal guy, and consider myself to be very tolerant of gay people, but I don't really understand how a man can be attracted to another man, and I doubt I ever will. Some people just are, that's all. But that's not what they're trying to do. They just want to get rid of the rule so that they won't get tossed out of the military if someone discovers they're gay. What's so unreasonable about that?

You are the Captain of the Liberal ship, I'm sorry the Admiral....
A poll taken recently showed almost 70% of active duty military is in favor of leaving it alone. Strength in numbers I always say.

They won't leave it alone because the activists won't leave it alone. The people I know who are gay keep it to themselves and everyone is more or less fine with that. On the other hand gay activists are not going to rest until it is federally mandated that their lifestyle is completely normal.

Why break 'don't ask don't tell' to satisfy a small percentage of people even though it's working just fine? Same reason they threw a mostly functional health care system into chaos to address a relatively small percentage of people.

It's a guarantee more schools will follow the one in NC and remove Easter and Christmas from the calendar. The school system in America is made up of liberals, and this is just another example of the stupid, moronic crap we let them get away with. I'd love to see the NC voters fire anyone involved with that brilliant decision.

I don't know what poll you're referring to, but the one the Pentagon did found that "70% of those surveyed felt that allowing gays to serve openly will have a positive, mixed or no effect on military readiness."
    http://www.usatoday.com/news/militar...htm?csp=34news
Of course, McCain and other Republicans are disputing the results, and they point to the fact that amongst combat troops, the number is a lot lower, which is a valid point to make.

I do think it's going to be repealed at some point, and should be. But I'm really starting to doubt it's going to happen in this session. In fact I kind of hope not; I certainly hope they don't prioritize that above making a decision about the expiration of the tax cuts. I'd rather see those get extended for everybody than for nobody, but that's a different thread...

Your post is right out of the same selective information playbook the libs you vote for use.

You forgot to mention the survey found 12% said they would not want to stay in the military if don't ask was repealed. That's 240,000 plus according to the article you cite. Wonder if that's more than the total number of gays in the military?

You also forgot to mention the survey did not ask whether those in the armed forces support repealing don't ask. If your heroes'd had the guts to ask that question, it would've come out just exactly like Mark said...70% against. Don't think so? Care to place a small wager? Bet I can dig up some other surveys...but it'll cost you.

You also forgot to put the statistics to the combat troops (the ones who actually have to spend time in a foxhole with each other) who are opposed to repealing it. The number quoted was 40 to 60% against. A pretty big variance, and compelling evidence your Dem heroes are playing politics with the numbers.

The point is made in the article you cite that it probably isn't a good time to screw around with don't ask right now. You think now is a good time to throw a curve at the combat troops in Afghanistan in the name of a misguided social issue? Can't wait for you to rationalize that one for me.

My answer to you comes in the form of a question, which is; "What does your question have to do with the price of beans in China?"

For the record, I don't know who pushed the policy through and really I could care less. It seems to me like the men and women in the field (the majority) are the one's who think things are fine as they are. I'm not a military guy but common sense tells me things are fine the way they are now.

My .02 on the subject is this is just another game the libs are playing in order to try to persuade more voters to their side of the fence, regardless of whether it's right or wrong or for better or worse. The liberal chips are down and right now they're reaching for whatever leverage they can.

We can all google just like you. Why don't you just tell us dumb conservatives? Go ahead and enlighten us about why we can't have an opinion on an issue without considering who did what when?

Your facts and Liberal ideals don't seem to work with the opinion of the tax paying, voting people of the United States. Just look at the recent elections and the opinions of what many people have about the majority of Obamy/Pelosi/Reid/Frank/Dodd policies.

I would like to hear how the great plan of Obama with a Liberal Congress who could and did spend anything they wanted for two years did not work for the american people. What were the recent unemployment numbers? 9.8%?? What did obamy say about the numbers? If we spend "$787 Billion" amount of money the Unemply numbers would never get above what 8%?? Hmmmmm???
