    Laws about boat parking

I live in Louisville and have pain in the butt neighbors who look for anything to complain about. Today she announced it was illegal for me to park my boat in my driveway and she was going to report it. Thoughts, concerns.... Can she do that? Does anyone know of anyone who has had the same issues?

    Re: Laws about boat parking

sounds like some sort of local ordinance. In Frankfort they have a new ordinance that prohibits parking a vehicle over grass. Really stupid ordinance, to park your boat in your back yard you have to black top, concrete or gravel a parking space. Then you have to have zoning approve paving the space, ask for a varrience to gravel and on and on and on. Then Bill gets approved, but Sam dosen't because Bill knows Jeff who's brother is on the board da da da da da. End result is that most are renting spots in the rental space bay type businesses to park boats and RVs.

I have 50+ acres and am exempt but lordy, lordy some of these zoning rules and those running the zoning board really have a dictator mentality.

I would check your local ordinances and see whats up. You may still be able to park in the back. Here we can park a boat on a paved or graveled drive if front or back but not over grass or dirt.

    Sir,
First thing to do is to see if your neighborhood or subdivision has any published restrictions or covenants. The County Clerk can do this for you. You may also find a copy of them if they exist attached to your copy of your property deed.

This link will show what restrictions and covenants are all about. http://legal-dictionary.thefreedicti...d+restrictions

In general, if when you bought your home, and the deed said certain restrictions or covenants existed, then when you bought the house, you basically agreed to play by those rules. Sometimes those rules state trailers, RV's, boats, can't be parked on the lots in that neighborhood or subdivision, sometimes they say they have to parked behind the house, and sometimes they say they have to be in a garage. So yes, if those rules exist where your property is, then she may in fact be able to take action thru a local court, who would basically issue you a restraining order. Unless you are blocking a sidewalk or street, if she calls the cops they will just tell here thats a matter for a civil court.

Good news, if the rules do not exist, or are not noted in your deed, you may have legal action. So. First, check with your county clerk and get a copy of your deed and ask for any restrictions or covenants that exist or pertain to your deed. Second, know what the rules are. Third, seek competent legal counsel before taking any form of action to be sure you are right.

If you are in a subdivsion, just check your deed restrictions. Had a buddy that got served some paperwork for the same thing. Nothing like PIA neighbors.

Are you a member of a HOA(housing authority association) ??? If you are it's highly possible & should be written in the HOA bylaws or your deed. Feel sorry for you if you are as a lot of housing authorities rules are absolutley ridiculous. Good luck with neighbors like that.

Note everything I have is in running condition and properly licensed and plated. 31 foot airstream, 16 foot car hauler.. You name it I basically have it parked out there.... Re: Laws about boat parking

You guys are hilarious! All the above was my first initial reaction but being the God fearing man I am being spiteful about it won't solve anything. To address all the questions....1st) I live in a normal ranch home in Valley Station. I kind doubt there's a neighborhood restriction. 2)She's reacting to me calling the pound on her cat who poops on my hot tub deck steps. Nothing more disturbing and just pisses me off than to be barefoot and step in cat crap. I have spoke to her and she did nothing. So I called the pound. Bleep her! 3) I am working saving money to buy my peace of mind worth of land. Until then, it's on! Leave my Boat alone lady..... Messing with deadly stuff here woman.

I live in Jeffersonville and the local ordinance doesn't allow boats to be parked in the driveway. You can park them in your yard as long as they are behind the house line.. as many as you want. Stupid law in my opinion my boat looks much better neatly parked in the driveway than it does parked in the side yard, but I don't want a ticket so in the yard is where both boats sit.
