    Justice over Siva

Alright fellas I think I would give Bullet the Nod right now over Siva. Peyton needs to sit more and learn how to stay in control. I counted 4 bonehead plays in a row late in the game Saturday while trying to protect a lead. It seems with him if he messes up, he wants to undue it so bad he ALWAYS follows it up with another costly mistake. Sometimes three and four mistakes. It's a good thing UNLV came up short on three of those four snaffu's he made or that game could have gotten real interesting towards the end.

Justice is developing nicely and he plays with much better control and makes ALOT better decisions with the basketball. For me it's time to make Siva a sub for point and let Justice have his time at running the point. I know starting means nothing with Pitino but don't tell the players that, lol. E.Justice is gonna make a heck of a four year guard for Louisville, he reminds me of Travis Ford alot. He's tougher than a Pine Knot to.

No way Mark! The kid is not ready yet. If you compare their stats side by side using minutes played, he is not as effective as Siva and he cannot penetrate into the lane and dish the way Siva does. Peyton has played better and better every game. Also, do you really want Justice in late in the game nuring a lead? He shoot pretty low percentage from the foul line and your point guard can't do that during crunch time.

OMG, Look at Siva's FT% at crunch time it's freaking horrible. I can almost run with your other comments but that one I can't. I'm not saying don't play him Tim, just send him the message that he doesn't seem to be getting, stay in control. He over penetrates constantly with no plan and nowhere to go resulting in a turnover or bad shot. He's a sophomore now, it's time he starts turning the corner a bit on mental mistakes. His assist/turnover ratio is not what it should be. He's a little overated from the hype at least for now.

    Re: Justice over Siva

Just studied the stats for this year on ESPN. Although Siva is leading Justice in many statistical categories here's one that just blared off the page at me and solidified my original post.

Siva in 8 games has played 172 minutes and has turned it over 21 times.

Justice in 8 games has played 134 minutes and has turned it over ''5'' times.

I was at the UNLV game and counted at least four times Siva missed an easy dish after penetrating. A couple of those would've been easy slams.

Tim you're right, Justice can't penetrate like Siva, but I left really impressed with Elijah. He has a really nice stutter step that keeps his defender off balance.

Regardless, they're a nice pair to replace Signore Sosa.

Mark, the reason for the turnover numbers is simple, Siva often times tries to do to much. He is still learning. Justice will not have that problem because he is not athletic enough to do to much right now.

Plus, I don't count Siva as a true sophomore because he was injured some last season and didn't get much playing time because of Pitino's incredible infatuation with Edgar Sosa.

    Re: Justice over Siva

I haven't watched enough of Louisvilles games to know for sure but with Justice being the backup point guard and going up against the other teams backup point guard and other subs that it might make his numbers and him look a little better than they really are. Again I haven't watched enough to know if that's the case or not.

With all that said I wouldn't mess with a good thing. They are 8-0, playing good D so I wouldn't think about making a change unless things started really going down hill.

College isn't like the NBA...just because you are a backup doesn't mean you're playing against the other teams backups....While substitution patterns are pretty regular in the NBA, college coaches often get completely out of sync with the other team.....and often if a backup is playing well he'll get the starters minutes....and 5 TO's in 8 games is a great number for a point guard.....even if he is only playing 17 or so minutes a game.....I'll take a slightly less athletic point guard who takes care of the ball and doesn't give the other team points off TO's anyday over a guy who will make the highlight reels and turn it over 5 times a game....an elite team at any level has 2 things....a point guard that knows their roll, and it's usually not scoring (ie Rondo, Derek Fisher) and a guy who does all the dirty work and the small things....

Just curious what % of his minutes are coming at the end of games against the other teams subs because looking at the games Louisville has played most haven't been too close.

I guess we'll see what he's got once Big East conference play starts.

Pontooner, Justice has been playing against the exact same competition as Siva and during heated moments during games to. Louisville up till now has played a weak schedule but I'm still comparing stats to stats and using Justice's #'s saying it was against the scrubs at the end of the games is quite false. Louisville has three quality wins, Butler, Marshall and now UNLV. They play Drexel tonight and they are a 6 and 1 team that may give UofL fits, we'll see.

What I'm saying is I've watched every game this year and Justice is going head to head against the same guys that Siva is and for me his numbers are in the ball park with MUCH less in the way of giving the ball back to the other team. Peyton is a good player and a very likable young man. He will be a much more productive guard and valuable to the team if he would just calm down, not worry about points and protect the basketball. He needs to wrk on his ball handeling skills, very shakey at times.

    Re: Justice over Siva

Easy fellas we are all for the same team. If Ricky P would have played Siva more last year this would not be a problem. I like them both. I would play Siva as much as possible, I think he can take us farther when he is in his a little more experienced.

With that said I like Justice. With a little more experience he is going to be a great ball player. Who ever said he is going to be a great 4 year guard hit the nail on the head.
