I use the ones I tie and have for years. A hair jig is one of the first bass jigs I learned to tie, that was (MANY) a smallmouth ago...![]()
I have had success with hand tied black bear hair jigs with Uncle Josh as a trailer. They work well if you can find someone who hunts bear? A bear's hair repels water. An old man makes them for me.
Hair Jigs that are fished in the rocks need to be tied differently. They will need two or three whips located inside the winding before the final finishing whip is tied. The winding will then need to be saturated with head cement and allowed to dry for maybe 48 hours before it gets wet.
Good hair jicks work well to catch dogs too. One of my dogs will clean the hair clean off without getting it stuck in him!
