This past summer my wife dislocated her artifical hip and was taken to the Albany hospital. Long story short they had no one that could put it back in place, Somerset, Columbia and Cookesville all refused treatment also, it was a Sunday.
She was Air Evac back to St. E here in N.Ky $27000.33 the Insurance did pay the whole bill after reviewing the case. Thirty minutes in the ER and she was back home.
Air Evac has a membership program that is very cheap, if you or family are in the lakes area for anytime it may be worth looking into. If you are a RECC member you even get a discount I'm talking like $35-$50 a year for coverage.

I have gotten more medical bills in the mail than probably everybody on the board combined. I have reviewed charges and made more phone calls contesting charges that it is not even funny. I even started getting itemized bills from them several years ago and it is amazing what they charge for and how much. You walk into UK ER and see a DOZENS of nurses and doctors standing around behind their new desk areas that you wonder how many patients can their be in the ER rooms. Then it takes hours to be seen and even then it is 3-4 different doctors that come into the room to evaluate you. A patient like myself that has been there a million times with my history on their computers but I still have to answer the same stupid questions to all 4 doctors before they turn me over to Blue Surgery, who are the ones that know my case personally. But yet I am still billed for the 4 different doctors that came in initially that did absolutely NOTHING but ask questions before Blue Surgery made the decisions on treatment. Seems to me that 1 doctor could be able to triage me and stabalize me with antibiotics or pain medicine or whatever then contact Blue Surgery right away instead of wasting time and money by having me see the other 3 doctors that do nothing. If you ever go to the hospital ask for an itemized bill because you will be suprised at what you get charged for and how much it is. If it is a trip to the ER and you have a family member with you, you may even try and write down what they give you because every injection, bag of fluid, iv stick, kleenex, EVERYTHING has a price and a PRICE it is..

They did offer a lifetime membership for $500 for your household.Best investment to have. You may never need it but if you do the cost is worth the $500.I hope I loose my 500 and never have to take that ride.

I will say that when it was agreed that I was going to UK instead of Nashville they said they were taking off in 6 minutes and it was a 12 minute flight. I looked at the clock on the wall and heard the helicopter landing in exactly 18 minutes from when I looked at the clock. Don't know where they came from but it was no more than a 12 minute flight from Celina. Never been more cramped in quarters than inside the helicopter. Had to turn to my right to get the door closed, left arm was inside the sleeping bag the whole way and it was not moving, good thing IV was in right arm and I had to reach my arm up above my head and out to the right for the nurse to take my BP and give me pain meds on the flight. I did get to see the dam at Dale Hollow, Horse Creek, Cedar Hill, and other marinas on the south side of the lake from the air and even got to get pretty close to the dam at Cumberland to which I saw that view from above. I never been in a helicopter before and I am not afraid of nothing but when he is checking in and told his people that it was a 1 hour and 10 minute flight and they had 90 minutes of fuel, in my head that is 20 minutes extra plus when he sat there on the ground running the rotars I am thinking more fuel burned I was wondering if we could run down to the One Stop and get a few extra gallons before lift off, I would even pay.

They have a location in Lafayette TN where they keep the helicopter. I live just over the state line from there in Kentucky and they fly over my house very, very often. An auto full of hispanics wrecked near my house a few years ago. They called that helicopter in from Lafayette, another from somewhere else and landed both in the road, and then they used some ambulances to haul others off to hospitals. I'm sure they did not collect a penny for all that trouble.

I absolutely agree. The problem is that we've let them do this to us. Over time, we've allowed them to take our money by remote control and do whatever they want with it.

I also have Humana PPO and both the Doctor at Celina as well as my Doctor on the Blue Surgery Staff at UK said I had to get to UK for Emergency Surgery for if it had ruptured it could be life threatening. This has been relayed to Evac in hopes that they will accept my insurance. Certainly I would not have taken the Helicopter ride of 1 hour and 10 minutes, when Catchemall could have driven me to UK in a little over 2 1/2 hours maybe 2 depending on how fast he got me from the Cabin to Celina, if I knew they was not going to cover the cost.

ME? Yes! The life insurance will take care of mommie when I'm gone, that bill would mean we both starve to death while alive.

Sorry, don't have any life insurance. Imagine that but I am HIGH RISK and the rates are thru the roof for me, which I can't afford. My only hope of taking care of Mommie is for me to get better before I turn 45, 43 now, and then work until I am 70 to get 25 years in with some company to have any kind of retirement OR hit the Powerball. Neither one of them sounds too likely for Mommie and me.

When Obamas health care kicks in we wont have to worry about outrageous medical costs anymore cause he has taken care of that for us.
