I own 5 Shimano Stradics and would never consider a different spinning reel. EVER!

hhhmmmmmmmmm....really. Maybe that person would rather get more reel for his money than blow it on an over-priced reel with similar specs? The whole idea in fishing that the more money you spend on an item, the better it is, and the more fish you will catch with it...is something I've never understood? If the reel has a high number of ball bearings, anti-reverse, and a smooth bail....and it feels good in your hand...that's all it takes. And I guarantee you, when you kick one of your $50 reels over the edge of your boat...you won't cry nearly as hard as if it was a $300 reel!

Ditto on the Stradic by far the best I have used. Drag is super smooth and that is really important unless you backreel all the time. Which i am too lazy to do.
What about the Pflueger president spinning reel?? Anyone have any info on it? Reviews are pretty good and has a 10 bearing system, extra spool and a carrying bag included. Only bad thing is they only have a 1 year warranty. Thanks for all your input. It has helped me out so far.

I would not consider any other brand than Shimano. I have two Symetre reels. One is eight years old and just as tight and smooth as the one I bought last year. All I have ever done to them is oil and grease every now and then.
I just looked at those and they are looking like a solid choice. Most are low in stock. I will prob get two of them, one for bass fishing and the other for crappie/bluegill. What do you suggest me get size wise.

2500 series for bass, although some guys like the 3000 for the line capacity.
For crappie and bluegill, try the 2000 and below sizes.
Not for sure about what sizes are available for each model, but the info listed above should help you determine what to get. Good luck.
You need the Shimano Stradic or CI4, I have four stradics and love the feel of the CI4. Shimanos are very strong and light, do your homework on the weight and line capacity you need and compare it to the Energy, for bass you need the 2500 series and for crappie the 1000.
I would suggest the 2500 series for bass and the 750 series for crappie.
To bad you have Bass Pro cards and not Cabela's because I don't think Bass Pro carries the Okuma spinning reels. Even though I like Shimano pretty well I can't argue with what Goosecreekguy wrote.
A well known guide down at Dale and Cumberland uses Okuma Avenger Series and believe me, his reels have taken a beating and I've never seen one fail while during a good fight. Granted he uses them for live bait more than anything, but they are also used to cast with. I gaurantee those reels of his get used plenty, they take a lickin' and keep on tickin'. Plus the Avenger series has that bait runner feature on them which is a pretty cool thing...If Bass Pro carried them you could get two of them and still have change left out of your $150.00 dollars worth of gift cards.
