    Custom paint jobs

Can anyone recommend where or who can do some custom paint jobs on hard plastic baits?

Basically looking to put a lucky craft color on a strike king bait. Not to save money, just because I like the strike king bait better.

Andy, if you don't get a response here, you might want to post this message on the lure making board also on this site. I am sure someone could help you.

Josh paints cars. Not fishing lures...

Try bassboatcentral.com in the rod and bait building section.

Sand off the paint the then hit with rattle cans to do the new paint job. If you want more detail, you'll need an airbrush. Honestly, detailed paint jobs on cranks are highly over rated. Profile and action first, color is a distant third. Fish cannot see the details, so basic patterns are fine. I repaint some plastic baits for friends. Usually ugly colored baits they get from the bargin bins.

I have learned that too. How many times have you had a bait with the paint chipped and missing in spots but it's a great fish catching bait.

If you do happen to talk to Rick in Cincy pick up a couple of his balsa baits. He has the best shallow running crankbait I've used by far. Its his LZ-7 series. Color 5 "smoke shad" and "spring craw" are GREAT baits.

It was a hilarious conversation, I just started right off with the fishing talk assumming he was a lure painter. At first I thought he was a bit deaf He goes, "Do what?" about 5 times before I realized he had no clue what I was telling him.
