Do you just park at Jim Beam or is other parking available at the bridge???

Also, love to wade in the summer and fall. Is there a winter bite on Elkhorn this time of year???

Thanks! Been wanting to try it out.

You can bank or wade fish at both places. Jim Beam has better wade fishing than Switzer. You can park behind the electric station by the Jim beam sign. There is a trail that go through the woods to get to the dam. I have never fished later than October on elkhorn.

Weisenberger Mill is a good place to wade in south elkhorn. There is a long stretch of bank access along Moores Mill rd and there is access on Fishers Mills rd. If you go to weisenberger you can park across from the mill in the gravel and there is a path down. Fishers mill you can park at the bridge. Moores mill is wide open. As far as winter fishing it is about like anywhere else it's tough. South is loaded with smallmouth and redeyes. North in gtown is mostly boating water but there is bank access at great crossing and the park on 25 down by the high school. When the weather warms and the fish get active again try throwing a black and blue spinnerbait and you will kill em on elk.

Fryman's Boat Dock on Stoner Creek in Bourbon County offers bank fishing and daily jon boat rentals (as well as camping for bank fishing at night). The boat rentals will begin when the baitshop re-opens in March, but you can bank fish there anytime as long as you pay the cash box. Largemouth, smallmouth, crappie, panfish and catfish can all be caught there. Good luck, hope this suggestion helps.

Head out to Peaks Mill to Canoe Kentucky. The place gets a bad rap with a lot of fisherman because they put a lot of people on Elkhorn. They operate from the forks to the river. In the summer they rent from Riverview park in downtown Frankfort on the Kentucky river. Iv'e lived in Frankfort almost all my my life and still can't figure out and how to catch a good mess of fish on the river. But both Elkhorn and the river are great places to spend times outdoors.

I agree with Rich. I fish Silver Creek a lot. I've got some nice SMB out of it. Let me know this spring if you want to wet a line in it. I have several places to access it.
