    Panhandle fishing report?

I will be in Panama City Beach next week, but I am just looking for any kind of fishing report from North FL. I will be fishing for whiting from the beach, bonita from the piers, and trout/redfish in the creeks/bays.

I really want to fish under the Hathaway bridge coming into PCB, but I just don't know if there will be any fish there this time of year.

Any reports from N. FL are very much welcome.

I live in Navarre but been back in Louisville since Christmas. Bonita have been running well in the mornings.

The whiting bite from Navarre pier has been phenomenal this year. I know Ive seen some world records go over the rail, I got one my self the was two ounces short. For best results buy LIVE shrimp and peel them to use as the fresher the shrimp the better. I like to use at least 30" of 8lb fluro for leader material as they can be lead shy at times, a size 2 light wire circle hook will get the job done.

Google emerald coast pier fishing forum for a local forum for that area.

I've been a member of that forum for some time now. Good site, but they haven't been that forthcoming with info about fishing this time of year, other than just a couple people giving me some tips.

I'm not looking for anyone's spot, but just some info to get me on some fish. This looks like the only trip I will get to take to the beach this year, so I want to make it count.

Are you catching the bonita from the pier? Using jigs?

If I do go to the pier, do you think I will need to get my own drop-net or rope gaff?

I live there and I dont own a net or gaff, never had a problem finding some one to help to get a fish up. I dont really fish for bobos too much but pomp jigs work well. Bubble rigs are best, green, yellow or orange color.

As far as inshore spots to fish or techniques, Im not sure as Ive never fished the St. Andrews bay system. I say just hit up both piers and do what everyone else is doing. That is how I learned.

I dont know how the whiting have been at PCB but if its anything like Navarre, I suggest you focus on them. With light tackle they are fun to catch and **** are they ever yummy. The freeze great too as an added bonus. The fish on the far right (my left) was just shy of the world record and 20" long!!!

Think you will find fishing under the Hathaway disappointing, don't plan a full day here.Try the two commercial piers and St.Andrews park. From the park you can fish a free pier, nice jetty and walk out to Deep Water point. There is a small pier on the Lagoon side which s good for catching bait.

    Sorry.

I didn't catch anything at the Park, but I did fish Burnt Mill and Crooked creek, and caught about 200 undersized trout.

i never even got the first bite surf fishing from the beach.
