Bingo. What I REALLY dislike is the inconsistency of sentencing, ESPECIALLY for violent crimes. For one person the punishment may be 15 years, for another it may be 50, and yet another life without parole. Nowadays its a gamble for any justice-seeking victim to have a shot at actually getting a "maximum penalty" for a crime. Why not have the "maximum penalty" be the ONLY penalty?
BUT..... what if we wrongly convict an innocent person?
Personally, I own several guns and love shooting. But, I think there is no place for tactical/assault weaponry in society outside of military and law enforcement. jmo.
If you ban tactical weapons, then only the criminals will have tactical weapons. Law abiding citizens will be outgunned by the criminals. Concealed carry laws work not because citizens are brandishing guns. It's because criminals don't know who might have a gun. Face it, not too many cops get mugged while at work.
