Cool 2011 Bassmasters Classic

I am a sucker for rooting for underdogs, even when they're beating my personal favorites. If KVD wins we say yeah, yoohoo, back to work. But if a lesser known bass fisherman starts slayin' them our eyes are glued to the tv and ya have to admit we like to see kvd sweat blood and tears on the lake or at the stage. So while I believe kvd and the other consistent top 5's are great, deserving bass fishermen, I'm putting my sight on a few guys who don't get much air time. For the Classic:
1)Mark Davis - well known but stays in the shadows, he is due a classic win.
2)Morizo Shimizu - Those Japanese guys have all kinds of stuff up their sleeves, WHEN THEY NEED IT, he knows what to do.
3)John Crews - need I say more?
4)Gary Klein - 29 classic appearences, 8 more than kvd, think he's had enough of him.
5)Michael Iaconelli - His win here in '03 is why you still see him fishing the pro's today, I'm sure he has a mental advantage as long as he can secure his spot.

BASS FANTASY FISHING---> As for the rest of the year, what underdogs do you think will make an impact this year?

I dont know if you can count former Classic champs as "underdogs"= Iocannelli (03) & Mark Davis (95).
Morizo is a long shot since he's primarily a deep structure fisherman.
Crews- I think he needs a few more years under his belt first.

Klien has more appearances without a win (29) so he's over-due
Biffle's next in line with 17 appearances without a win
Then Shaw with 13 and nothing to show for it.
Swindle could make his first BASS win at the Classic

An underdog is someone who is not expected to win, not someone who has never won.
Mark Davis - 25 yrs ago...
Iaconelli - I know, I know, I couldn't leave him out though but he is no underdog here.
Morizo Shimizu: Fishing pro for 10 years with strong support from Japanese, and now making the classic, their bringin out all stops to see a Japanese angler win. He has some new info on the net that might update you
Crews has momentum, and that is a very powerful asset. Oh and he hasn't developed. All delta's may not be created equal but he has tamed one of them!
Klein finished 4th his 1st trip here and 2nd the next so as for this particular body of water, he may have it figured out by now!

Swindle is Swindle, I have been ignoring him since '06 i believe, when he wasn't so professional or humble. I need to get over that I guess, after all I liked him before his teary tantrums.

I'd like to see ike win. He isn't a underdog, I just like the way he competes. Not much on the way he acts, but the comeback he almost made in the aoy, the year b4 last. The comeback he made at the classic a few years ago. But I will b happy to c kvd win as well. My underdog pick would b arron martens. That dude needs a break in the classic.

I know he is not an underdog but I am pulling for Ike. If for no other reason than the fact that he has absolutely by far the best fishing show ever put on television. GO IKE, NEVER GIVE UP......

As the saying goes, "You can't win them all". So while I'd love to see KVD get #4, I don't see that happening this time around. As a sentimental favorite, I'd like to see Gary Klein pull one out of the bag.

?????????????????????????????????????

Apparently you have never fished the cal-delta before I have several times. you don't tame the cal-delta it tames you. winning 1 tournament on a body of water doesn't make you taming it. Look at what Stephen Browning's last year 1 day your on the top of the world the next you weigh in 13oz.

Bobby Barrack is one of the most known fishermen on the delta and probably the most consistent and he can't tame it. He will tell you that himself.
