what lure / what technique during your career

Come on Rick, you are telling our age. Caught my 1st bass at Rough when we were sophs in high school and Rough was 6 on a plastic worm with a spinner on front. And fell in love. Fished my 1st tournament there 4 yrs later. The lure I would say would be the old rapala. Technique would be jigging. Anybody remember that one?

Learning how to fish the tube changed my fishing the most when I moved here from Florida. Learning what tube, size, rig and color took some time but I have it nailed now.

In Florida learning how to flip and pitch plastics efficiently changed my fishing success the most.

My main lure I fished with is the Bayou Boogie, espeacially when I first started. Not as much any more but I still fish with it. My dad swears by it to this day. If your not just bass fishing it seems like it will catch just about any species of fish.

Senko Worm had the biggest impact. I learned about it at a seminar (Boat Show in Louisville). I was just beginning fishing and only had a few things I had tried until then. It opened my eyes to try a world of other lures. I would say my focus now is on learning to use Jigs and Tubes. I have realized over the years the more you fish something and catch fish with it; the more confidence you get in it. Let's face it; most lures catch fish, look at the variety on this string.

I am not married to a lure; and like the Clint Eastwood character in Gran Torino, you only need a screw driver, hammer and wrench to fix most things. But having other tools for the job are a bonus, but only useful if you learn how to use them.

Hula Popper! The skirts would get all funky, so I never liked them. Would get all gooy if it touched one of my touchdown worms.. I got one more now that I've had time to think about it. My parents would take me to Patoka and Monroe and we would sit on the bank and fish, I would always have a nightcrwler on the bottom and stand there with some sort of lure and cast. The best memory would be my mom with a zebco 33 casting a Little George about 2 miles and catching evrything from bluegill, northern pike (when they were plentiful), bass, and even catfish. Man I wish it was that simple now. I have a 2 year old boy and I am going to do my best to simplify it like the old days for him. Hope I dont ruin him with 7 foot medium action fast tip rods, flourocarbon line, shakey heads, crankbaits that cost $20+, and the $40k bassboat. Wish me luck!

I've caught more off crankbaits than anything, followed closely by a t-rig. My bigger ones are off jigs but my biggest came off a spinnerbait, but for some reason I'm on a Senko kick now.

The old Rebel Humpy was the first lure of impact. Flippin was the technique that made the biggest impact and won the most money for me. Recently, topwater fishing is what I love the most, from buzzbaits to frogs in the grass, all the way to poppers and spooks! I figure when you die and go to heaven, all fishing is topwater!
