Was out hunting yesterday. Froze up all around the island North of the State ramp. The area from the ramp to that island was open. Upstream to the 31-E bridge was open. No wind and still below freezing means more will lock up. Quite a bit of ice formed in the 4 hours or so we were out.
That is the only area that I ran around in. It is by no means all locked up.
When do they start letting the lake fill back up to summer pool?
I believe they start holding the lake around the middle of March.
ok thanks

The corp will began holding the lake back earlier this year, as the B.A.S.S. Federation Nation Southern Divisonal is going to be held there in mid April and teh lake must be at full pool, or at a certain level so they can have the tourney, to host this type event, B.A.S.S requiers a mim amt of lake surface area, form what I have heard is that the corp has agreed to have lake at or near summer pool by tourney date. so they should start holding ot back earlier this year.
Thats cool, and good to know, because im wanting to go out and look at some of the stuff that is under water at summer pool. Thanks
Hopefully BASS has some pull with mother nature. Remember around 4-5 years ago when we had a spring and early summer drought. The corps started holding water March 15 just like they typically do, but Barren was below summer pool 4th of July weekend. It did not hit summer pool until late July. Only thing the corps can do is start holding water earlier than March 15 and that will only work if mother nature gives us some rain.
The flip side to this is... they start holding early, get it all teh way to summer pool and we get another flood like last year, and they dont have as much capacity to hold water... this would **** for those who live downstream.
Yep ole mother nature sure can change Barren in a flash,I am interested in seeing just what they will do about the tourney should it flood. This tourney is a big money deal for Glasgow/Barren co, they plan on launching at the state park, will be interesting to see 90 boats launch from there at 20ft over summer pool. But who knows what mother nature will bring us that time of year. I hope it works as planed.
