So true R19, it is all about business, and yes B.A.S.S is a business and a good one, also note that this tourney was set up before the change of ownership. I too love B.A S.S, have been a member since the 70's when I was a kid. It is my opinion that they should have thought this one out a little more, yes if I would have made the st team this year and me living here in Glasgow , I would love Barren, but they seemed not to take into consideration of how this lake is, we will just have to see. But the positive thing is that our team will have an advanatge, unless it floods then well it will be anyones game. But like you said it is all about the money, also another note the State ramp is supposed to be closed to the gen public during this event due to parking, and the marina owner will be letting them use his docks so the contestants wont have to trailor to weigh in, I wish they would have used port oliver ramp as that is one nice ramp and set up for tourneys and looks like the logical one to use as it is set up for tourneys, but like I said before all this was done before the change of ownership, as it was not BASS but ESPN. Now it is back to B.A.S.S.

What money are you refering to that Glasgow put up for the event? I was under the impression from the KBFN meeting that the KY B.A.S.S. had the CHOICE of where to hold the event and that it was between KY Lake and Barren. But since alot of out of state guys could get plenty of help on KY that we went with Barren instead to give the local team a leg up. I am unaware of any money that cities or towns have put up. granted there will be revenue coming to the city from gas, lodging, restuarants, etc.
Just wondering where this idea that Glasgow "outbid" or "Won" the event over Somerset came from?

    Re: Barren?

The lake Cumberland comment was a mistake, but Glasgow offered a incentive package from what I understood. Hotel Discounts, ice, etc, that is the MONEY deal I was refering too, I will end this now, I hope it works out with the Barren deal, I really do not care anymore what happens, hope the team wins, but It was not only the ky Bass fed that had this choice, however I will not be fishing the KBFN, I have fished it for 10 yrs been on the state team, and been in the AOY top 5 the last few years. Yes Glasgow put up a nice package to get it here. I am not talking actual hard monies, but discounts, freebes etc. I personally think yes, Barren gives the state team an advanatge, but it is a flood control lake and we will see if the tourney goes off as planed, I hope they have a backup if barren does not come up to full pool or is way over pool.

    Re: Barren?

Ok lets See here 7 states
    6 teams per state
= 42 boats how is this gonna make or break barren river???
This isnt a pro circut of 150 boats or any thing
so i just dont see the core holding the lake just for 42 boats

    Re: Barren?

It is not Six teams from each state. There are now 7 boaters and 7 non boaters from each state plus two alternates. Each person on the team competes against each other, the non boater has control of the boat for 4 hrs and the boater has 4 also. You are not paired with someone from your state, the team deal is that the state that has the highest combined weight from all their members, wins. It will be 49 boats, no it is not a big pro deal, it is a big amature deal as these divisionals are very prestigious, as the overall winner from each state goes to the Fed National championship, to earn a chance to go fish the bassmaster classic. These teams will be in town over a week, and they will spend money, that helps the economy for that area, overall there will be several hundred people that will be asscociated with this event. It is a big deal, when I fished the 2008 South div, at Santee Cooper, it had been a while since BASS or any major circut, had done a tourney there due to the drought of 2006/07 in that area, the people there actualy thanked us for being there as they said they need the business, a couple of guys crappie fishing actually said we are glad to see a big tourney back here, as the comunity missed the revenue, so yes there is a lot of money involved, and yes like it has been said before the corp agreed to start holding the lake back earlier, and let me clarify that mother nature will dictate a lot, they will have the tourney, wether it be over or under pool. By the way Ky should win this one. I will no longer argue about the corp, belive what you all will, I just answered a guys question and started a bleeping mess.

According to the Corps web site on 2-4-11 the main gate was set on .80 with an outflow of 2982cfs...they are getting rid of the rain from earlier in the week. I wonder when they will start holding water?

We can look at it this way. the Corp is a Gov Agency and everyons knows that the Gov wants to control everything, but the Gov also tells you what you want to here even though it is not all true. Who cares this dog has been beat to death. They will hold it when they hold it.
