    Dogwood?

Any of you guys fish this lake for panfish? I've heard for years its a trip I need to make for crappie and redear. I think there is a 10hp limit. Can I use a larger motor at idle speeds?

    Re: Dogwood?

My favorite lake and have fished it since it was built.
Yes there is a 10hp limit on Dogwood lake, and no you can't use another hp and idle.
Dogwood lake is a great panfish lake but it is frozen over with 4in ice in the east end.
Just talked to them this AM and from the office all the lake has ice.
What I was checking on this friday the lake opens for boat fishing and I was wanting to go bass fishing. Guess I'll go to Newton.

A good strong trolling motor will get you around fairly good. The ramp is about center of the lake.

I know you can go anywhere on that lake and catch 100 bass by accident.

That tx I fished with you all up there this year Larry, I was hitting the release on the spool just so I didn't have to bring in every 10" fish we caught. Although this is a GREAT lake to take a younger kid who is just getting started fishing. They catch a fish every 2 or 3 casts and love it.

    Re: Dogwood?

Yes Dogwood has it's share and more of small bass especially if the fisherman is a bank beater. There is better places to fish to catch larger fish, Boggs lake is one of them. What I like about Dogwood I have never seen a jet ski or a go faster boat causing big waves. What I do see is the beauty of the landscape without houses everywhere. Also just about every trip I get to see a lot of wildlife such as deer and turkey. To me this is what fishing is all about.
A man named Steve caught an 11 lb and 2 over 9 last spring night fishing so there is big fish there. I do know Steve an don't belive he is story telling. He had cell phone pictures what showed a little proof there were big fish.
    Bass wishes Jim
