Anyone have an idea of what a 1960s Dixon Hummingbird model 684 in Cherry Sunburst color would be worth ??? Thanks

Dixons are not highly collectable, and with out seeing it it would be hard to make a guess, value is aslo determined by playability, if everything is working, and the shape it is in,you could take it to a local music store and let them look at it, there is just too many unknowns to make even a guess, but probally not over 150.00.

Bobby this is a model 684 not a 684.6 or 685. Was offered way more than that years ago by a prominent music store, but thanks for the help just the same.

Was not trying to put your guitar down, just would need to see it and have some history to make a good est. I spoke with a local guitar guy, and he said it all depends on year and such, Dixon at one time made some nice guitars, some are worth a lot. I just bought a bass amp, that I had new back over 25 yrs ago and now it is considered vintage, guess ia am vintage now, lol lol, I am paying the same as I did then for it. Musicall instrumnets are a good investment if you get the right ones.

I miss my vintage equipment. Had to sell my 1967 Gibson SG special and 67 Sears 1484 silvertone amp to catch up on bills when teh wife was out of work.

Thumbs up Re: Guitar Value ???

Bobby I knew you weren't & I totally understood what you meant. There isn't much history to be found. I was told by more than 1 vintage guitar dealer that mine is extremely rare because of it being a 684 & not a 684.6. Gibson sued for copyright infringement & evidently there were just a handful of 684 models that have ever been saw. I know it plays better than any other flat top I've ever played by far & I"ve played a Gibson Hummingbird & mine is louder & way easier to play. Heck if it aint worth much money it's well worth having around when the folks with Martin & Gibsons end up wanting to play it which has happened quite a bit & I think it's cool when they lay those expensive ones down & play mine. Although I have to admit I'd love to have a D28 Martin. Oh yeah I guess you& I both are in the vintage instrument club now. lol

I've got a 1974 D28 Martin but it's not for sale. Also have a 1965 Fender Deluxe Reverb Amp in mint condition.

If you do a search online you could possibly change your mind. I saw one the other day that was around $7000.00 & a bunch in the $4000.00 to $5000.00 range. As you know it all depends on the individual item.

    Re: Guitar Value ???

martins are some, if not the best guitars made, they are a litle harder to play than some but they have a sound that is out os this world and the older they get the better sounding they get, also the reverd amp is worth something too. I bought an amp back in the 80's a Trace Elliot Mark 5 with 11 band eq, it sold for around three, i gave a little over 500.0 for it as the dde needed money, I did not know what it was worth then but I bought it, saw it on Craigslist he other day and I am paying 500.00 tp get it back, t is nw considered vintage, has a great sound 500 watts, 4 10'' speakers, and made in England. it is worth more bt since I am getting it ack from the gut who bought it from me he is letting me have a deal on it. Well made musical instruments are like money in the bank. Hold on to that Martin and reverb.

Ebay is offering free listings for a time.

If you do not want to sell it, start it a $1.00 with a really high reserve ($7000.00).

The bidding will give you an indication of its value. Heck you may end up selling it though.
