    Green River on Friday

Going to be down at Green on Friday with an empty backseat if anybody is interested. I live in Versailles and plan on leaving early morning and staying until about 2:00. Meet me there or ride. Been twice this winter with not much luck but I know they are in there.

    Re: Green River on Friday

I was on the lake Staurday and ran a 5-6 mile section on the upper end. I did see two places that had ice but nothing that would prevent a boat from running on plane. One place had a section of ice about 1 acer in size and other area was 5 acres in size but it did have a path open to drive through.

I live very close to the lake and I can tell you that it is raining very hard as I type this message. I would guess that with the increase in air tempature since I was at the lake and the amount of rain fall that ice will be a non issue anywhere on the lake. The main lake had some color before it started raining today and water temp was 40*. If I were going fishing my main concern would be did we get enough inflow to muddy up 40* water. If not the warm run in water could be a positive;but if it is cold and muddy my past experience says it will be hard to catch fish. Hopefully it will not muddy out and I wish you luck.

I only fished 30 minutes out of my 1.5 hour trip. My reason for going to the lake was to test drive my motor after installing a new water pump, check some brush piles and make sure my reels were in good working order after I serviced them. Please report water conditions if you go because I have the itch to go myself.

Thanks for the info. I didn't figure ice would be problem. Although it was at Taylorsville on Saturday. I'm like you, I think the warmer temps and rain solved the ice problem. I did think about the mud, but I'm off work and its above freezing. How far is C-land past Green. I was planning on heading there if Green is muddy. I'll give a report Friday evening.

I live near Holmes Bend which is near the upper end of Green. From my house I can be at Wolf Creek Dam in 30-35 minutes. Since a lot of people use ramp 1 on Green I will assume that is the ramp you were going use. I would guess from ramp 1 to Wolf Creek Dam is 45 minutes + or - make sure you use the new bypass in Columbia it will save driving through town pulling a boat...turn right as you come into Cloumbia at the new Dollar General Store and follow the by pass to the Very End. Turn right on 55 south and it will join 127 when you are around 7 miles from the dam if I had to guess.

    Re: Green River on Friday

I didn't know any other ramp existed except for the state ramp. Just joking of course but I've been going to Green all my life and the state ramp is the only one I have ever been to. I honestly couldn't tell you how to get to any others. R19, I may get a water clarity report from you on Thursday if you happen to see the water on your way home. That way if it is muddy then I can just hit 75 and run down to C-land. Has anyone out there had any luck at Green recently? I have been down twice in the past month and not even gotten a bit. Granted, I have only fished it a couple hours out of the time I was there but still at least one fish would be nice. Thanks in advance.

I haven't been to the lake to check out the water color but if it's muddy you'd be just as well off to find a good mudpuddle and fish it....when that lake gets cold and muddy theres not much to be caught....Even if it's clear I'd say it's well worth your time to make the trip to Cumberland or Dale

Made it down Friday at about 11 fished till 3. Had one bite all day. Did graph a couple schools of fish in about 25 foot of water but no success. Water had good color, visibility was about a foot and a half. Temps ranged from 36 to 37. Saw a bunch of dead shad with seagulls gorging in them. Nice day to be out though. Seen three other boats but didn't talk to anyone else.
