Because the Presidential election has become some kind of Hollywood, wow-factor, reality TV, popularity contest. It has very little to do with qualifications for the job, and more to do with popularity and who can raise the most cash...which is pretty sad. Obama was the X-Factor candidate, smooth talker, and appealed to the right amount of the population to get elected. Economy was in the crapper, Iraq/Afghanistan, and people wanted change, change, change...well, they got it!

(Oh, and it had nothing to do with him being black. Nothing at all.)

Boone here; started this thread just to see how much Sh.. I could stir up. Some of the responses were expected..., and others others have been enlightening. Very much appreciate the comments regarding alternatives to Sara on the Republican ticket, as I see her as a real threat of splitting the vote. GOD HELP ME, I'll vote DEM before I vote SARA.

Not surprised it turned into an Obama thing, but throwing in the race card into the discussion was a bit of a surprise.

I generally like her because I agree with much of her politics (not all) and not because the liberals all hate her so much.

Good point Michael. I'll clarify, I mainly like her because of her politics and generally like her because of her lifestyle and not trying to be somebody she's not. She is what she is and she doesn't seem to give a rat's arse who doesn't like it and I totally respect that.

She seems like a no-nonsense, straight talking lady to me...kind of seems to tell it like it is. She seems to put things into laymen's terms, which is good, it helps make all the political talk a lot easier to understand.

I guess Boone don't care much for her? He was kind of vague in starting this thread, not really saying much about her or what prompted him to start this thread to begin with.

A surefire way to get Obummer re-elected is to let Sarah Palin run on the Republican ticket. It is just way to easy for the media to make her look like a ditsy beauty queen. If she plans on running, she better have spent the last two years, and continue the next two years, learning about foreign policy first hand. She needs to travel to other countries.

The best thing she could do is run for Senate. BUild a reputation based on experience to satisfy the talking heads. Then make a run for Pres down the road.

And God knows a Governor of a state is not qualified to be president, but a city organizer who has like 5 minutes under his belt in Congress does. She has every bit as much experience as any other governor elected President had in the past.

I( used to think the same thing until I watched her "reality" show. For someone who grew up hunting and was nicknamed caribou Barbie, she sure didn't look she knew how to get around on the tunra and the way she handled a rifle and the way she shot, I am gald I don't have to be in the woods with her in November.

I do agree with most of her politics, but don't want to see her as the spokeperson for the party!
