    home owners insurance

Motorcycle stolen from garage, Farm Bureau says its not their problem. They said anything that is licensed is not covered by home owners. Never knew this, but same goes for boats. Check your policies.
What if tree falls on boat or tree falls on garage with boat in it?

    Re: home owners insurance

I'm not sure if this will help, but I have all policies with the same carrier. I don't care what policy the carrier uses, but I should be covered in the event of a loss. Notice I said "should be."

However, I'm sure the carrier will bill me for the highest deductible policy coverage.

    Re: home owners insurance

Could not agree more I say with tongue in cheek

1998 Hail storm totaled a 2 week old suv , the entire roof of my house and garage $67,000

1991 Father passed away $28,000 life insurance to bury him and pay final med bills

1990 Wife had Breast cancer one radical mastectomy god only knows what the bill was ours liability $225.00
1997 Wife had cancer return another major operation our liability 0.00

1999 I had Prostate cancer in hospital 3 days over $75,000 our liability 0.00

Man I hate paying those damned premiums too but anyone of these would have done us in financially.

Go to your agent spend 30 minutes tell him you want to go over whatifs. If you don't I promise you you will regret it. look into umbrella policies or personal articles policies covering tackle ,electronics in garage or at motel , wherever.. ok I am getting off my pulpit now I feel better, pressue going back down I will be one with the fish (like Rick Clunn) pretty quick

Tell them you are going to report them to the insurance commissioner. I don't know what the guy does or who he is but WOW. Just mention that and they will fall into place.

I think most insurance - particularly health insurance - is a big scam. I have it and treat it like a necessary evil, but that doesn't mean I like it.

I think that, if I were you, I would file a complaint with my agent's boss and let them know I was going to follow it all the way to the Commissioner of Insurance if the claim was not paid. If your motorcycle was stolen from the garage, the garage is a part of the house and it, and everything in it, is insured so it would seem to be covered under your homeowner's insurance. If you had parked the motorcycle in your living room and it was stolen, or the house burned down, I'll bet they would have paid your claim. Your agent seems to be splitting hairs over location.

I was recently away from home for a couple of months. Our boat was parked on a slight incline with metal "chocks" blocking the wheels to prevent it from moving. When I returned home I saw a set of tire tracks in the snow that were backed up to the trailer hitch. All that saved us from having it stolen was that we had the type of lock on it that has a guard to prevent bolt cutters. Fortunately we had removed all the fishing gear from the boat and put it in a locked place. We have an umbrella package and insure the house, vehicles, boat, and my jewelry, all with the same company.

I don't like State Farm for anything except financial investments. I've had some problems with them in the past and cancelled all my insurance coverage because of it.

I hope you find your motorcycle and the thug that stole it. Maybe you can issue him some good old fashioned "street justice."

I did get the bike back later, but not before the #%^& were able to beat the hell out of it. I am currently peicing it back together thanks to ebay. I hope to have it going again by warm weather, just depends on my finances.

man, that's such a crap deal! I'd definitely try to get something out of the insurance company - and also have heard that threatening to take it to the insurance commissioner works a treat! You also might want to check out a few of the articles on http://www.homeownersinsurance.org or http://www.homeinsurance.org - similar sites that list tons of insider info about the insurance companies. Hope that helps, good luck with everything man.

Every policy is different. Know what you are signing.

My home owners insurance will cover any boat less than 16ft. Therefore, I have a separate policy on my 20 ft boat.
