Just for what it's worth I get many more fishing shows with Insight cable than the dish offers. I'm in N.Ky
I jusr switched to Direct TV and love it. I have Versus, the Outdoor Channel, Sportsman Channel and Pursuit. Versus has the best bass fishing shows IMO
I am with Dish Network, I get Outdoor Channel, Sportsmans Channel HD, and Versus HD. For a while I was getting WFN HD as a free sample. OMG that channel is awesome. I noticed that last night at 9pm there was a NEW episode of city limits fishing recording.
My favorite is The Bass Pros, but i also like Pro Team Journal and Strike King Classics.
Other good shows:
Gettin School'd
Classic Patterns
Facts of Fishing w/ Dave Mercer
Fishing The Flats
Lost Lake
Flats Class
The list goes on... BUt if you really want all teh great fishing program your brain can handle, check with your provider about gettin WFN. If I want it through dish i gotta buy a $10 package that has an ass load more channels i will never look at....
I saw bass pros last night and thought it offered a number of good tips. I put that one on the always record list. I will keep an eye out for the ones mentioned by others as well. Have seen a few of them but not enough to memorize the names.
When I ordered my DirectTV package I had no idea what Versus was so that was the point of my post. Nice to know that Dish Network and Insight have it too.
I've been disappointed that ESPN runs soccer during my Saturday morning workouts but now can have Versus on as background entertainment.
You guys who just switched are in for a big suprise. I had problems with Insight and switched to Direct tv over a year ago. I just like you loved Direct until the promotional year price ended. I know what they told you....but they lied. Your bill is going to double, and you will be stuck in a contract. I'm going back to Insight as soon as I can.
I also like Verses but what has happened to ESPNII? Will they televise the Bassmaster series this year? I check out the Bassmaster site and could not find a schedule. Bassmaster has been one of my favorites for years.

ESPN will be telecasting the Classic as well as the Elite series from what I've read. Saw the schedule for the classic posted somewhere.
My favorite shows are The BASS Pros, Gettin' Schooled (FINALLY some new shows there), Classic Patterns, Lost Lake, Hook 'n Look, Strike King Classics, and Pro Journal.
After I got an HD television last week I've begun researching which service is better, Insight cable in Lexington or satellite television. I've been with Insight for as long as I've had cable in Lexington and have always found them to be an excellent civic partner; however, the HD channels on Insight are only in 720i. Does anyone now what resolution the satellite providers are? Becareful, they can say HD, but still only be in 720i!
For the record I love all the fishing shows previously mentioned here, but my all time favorite fishing show that still on is the Spanish Fly!!
Anyone have the new ATT Uverse? It is supposed to be better than dish and cheaper than cable. It looks like it carries all the same programing but it is not quite available in my neighborhood yet. It is in Louisville but not all of it yet.
Just curious if anyone has any experience because I was really interested in switching once its available at my house.
I've got a background in electrical engineering and that tells me just enough to say many factors are involved in what your picture will actually look like. After I got an HD television last week I've begun researching which service is better, Insight cable in Lexington or satellite television. From my experience I can share-
a- I have a 32' HD TV that is only 1080i. I believe this means a 720P picture is upscaled to 1080format. Regardless, the picture is outstanding and I can not tell any difference between my Blueray player hooked to that TV and Direct TV. Both are outstanding and I'm very satisfied
b- I have a 50' HD Plasma that is 1080p. Before Insight 6.10 I could read several local stations in HD at either 720p or 1080i. It was clear that these were not 1080p pictures and I could visible see difference between them and blueray player. Both good but the realism difference was noticable. Now, we Dirct TV on that plasma I think I can still see improved picture quality with blueray but gap vs. most HD recording on Direct TV is not huge. I am very impressed with the directTV picture quality. that is not to say that Dish is not as good. I did look at my Dad's Insight HD DVR unit in Lexington area a few weeks ago and after review decided to roll the dice an go with something new. My recievers that came from DirectTv are better then what my Dad has; note his box may not be the latest technology anymore. I don't want to bash Insight but I saw no reason not to try something new.
Let me tie this back to fishingThe fishing shows in HD are just amazing. You can see details that make the shows more informative.

I don't have a contract. Not sure about the promotional deal, the only special I got was three months of a bunch of HBO, Showtime etc. movie stations for three months. One thing I can promise you, Insight will never, ever recieve another dime from me. I will do away with televisions before thos monopoly owning con artist get one penny!
