    1975 johnson 70 hp

I just bought one of these motors biut have always had merc's. When testing to buy noticed it did'nt have a pisser {water outlet}. When running there was a stream of water comming out the back middle parts of lwr unit. So question...is that the outlet for water at the middle rear area of the lwr unit and if so how do you determine if motor is overheating. Any help would be appeciated ??????

I am not certain about the 70hp, but I have a 1975 Evinrude (same as Johnson) 6hp outboard and it does not have a pee hole. The water comes out of the mid section on the back just above the lower unit.

Thanx--i just dont understand why--should there be a hose from that outlet to somewhere it can be seen--i dont think a 1975 has any warning buzzer. If this is right and the motor overheats you wont know it ubtil its too late

On my little 6hp, that spot is actually out of the water. There is a mixture of water and exhaust that comes out. It isn't as convenient as a pee hole, but if you stick your head over the transom, you can see it spitting out water.

Not sure about the 70 HP but most motors have a place in the cowling where you can run a pee hose outside
