Or I've talked to a guy at Newburgh ramp who uses minnow/shad traps to get bait. He then told me he fishes all over sw Indiana with these caught fish for crappie. Well you fish for crappie so you are to blame for the shad cause he did it! (yes that is a true story about the traps). Using broad terms to describe something will offend people. Which he does all the time. As for being helpful I do everything I can to help anyone that asks on and off the water. Including a ron of people on here.
    Justin,

as much as I agree that he takes shots unfairly at bass guys because of what two people think and no other data to support his theory... youre in the wrong here. Hes got all the rope he needs to hang himself... you dont need to take any from him for yourself.

    Re: Question about crappie

Cheese filled hot dogs! But I often wonder what type of Beer they prefer?

They also eat small aquatic insects when they are young. As they get older they switch to minnows and small fish like baby Gizzard Shad and they really grow well in waters with Threadfin Shad. They can't eat the Gizzard Shad after the shad reach a larger size. Gizzard shad can grow to 18" in length.

Down South the growing season is longer and they have warmer water that supports threadfin shad.

Threadfin shad don't grow as large as gizzard shad and remain small enough for larger crappie to eat year round. Also threadfin shad spawn several times a year.

If you really want to catch a lot of crappie add some "Crappie Nibbles" to your presentation.

Crappie are pretty agressive at times and if you find them you can catch them. At other times they may remain neutral or negative and won't feed at all. Sort of like me after eating a huge mean and stuffing myself full to the brink. You know the old saying, I can't eat another bite?
