apparently, he cant even catch those either!Redear, give it a rest. You make my head hurt. Bass fishing will always dominate the discussion boards, and you going on, and on, and on, and on about your '' shad '' nightmare is not only tiresom, its quite lame. I got a riddle for you...What do you call someone who dont have the knowledge or skill level to catch bass? A panfisherman. Think maybe thats your problem?
What do you think crappie eat?
Cheese filled hot dogs! But I often wonder what type of Beer they prefer?
They also eat small aquatic insects when they are young. As they get older they switch to minnows and small fish like baby Gizzard Shad and they really grow well in waters with Threadfin Shad. They can't eat the Gizzard Shad after the shad reach a larger size. Gizzard shad can grow to 18" in length.
Down South the growing season is longer and they have warmer water that supports threadfin shad.
Threadfin shad don't grow as large as gizzard shad and remain small enough for larger crappie to eat year round. Also threadfin shad spawn several times a year.
If you really want to catch a lot of crappie add some "Crappie Nibbles" to your presentation.
Crappie are pretty agressive at times and if you find them you can catch them. At other times they may remain neutral or negative and won't feed at all. Sort of like me after eating a huge mean and stuffing myself full to the brink. You know the old saying, I can't eat another bite?
