Help painting alum. boat

I am not a professional painter by all means, but I would make sure I scuff up the old paint that is sticking to the boat with a sandpaper or scotchbrite pad. Clean the boat really well with a tack cloth to get the dust residue off, Then a good coat of ALUMINUM OXIDE PRIMER is a must. Then paint. I have a Wagner small electric power painter that makes painting a breeze. I painted 2 different 12 x 14 storage buildings last summer in no time at all. Very good coverage, very little runs, and very efficient. You can get them at Lowes.

I fished out of a 14/48 Jon for several years. Carpeted with pedestal seats it was a nice poor man's bass boat. Mine was an Alumnacraft. When I got ready to sell it, I bought spray paint to match the boat direct from Alumnacraft. It was a little higher, but seemed to go a long way and was thicker paint. The boat looked brand new when I finished and has held up very well. My friends grandson ended up buying the boat, so I still see it often. I had no paint flaking just a lot of scrathes and gouges. A second coat on the gouges filled right in. I was really amazed how the paint brought it back to life.
