Let's see what we have here. Digger Phelps, an overrated, under achieving coach during his entire tenure at Notre Dame. The guy hung his hat on ending UCLA's 88 game winning streak back in 1974. He was not a good coach.
Doug Gottlieb. If you look up the word tool in the dictionary, there is a full page photo of Doug. Not only is he overpaid for his analysis on hoops games, he wasn't really a good player. Gottlieb began his career at Notre Dame, but it didn't take long for him to be gone. First, he was not talented enough to play in the Big East. That was evdient during his cup of coffee at Notre Dame. He was kicked out of school at Notre Dame for stealing his roomates credit card and running up $900 worth of charges. Not sure why he didn't serve time because that my friends is a felony.
Because of his shortcomings as a player. Gottleib hates the Big East conference. A few years ago he called the weak Syracuse schedule "fraudulent" and criticized Jim Boeheim. Boheim responded : "the only thing I know about fraudulent is (Gottlieb's) use of credit cards". Boeheim also went on to say, "One guy in particular was in our league for a minute or two but he couldn’t play in it. He seems to do the most talking, probably because he wasn’t a very good player and he’s not very smart about basketball."
He also was the first to shout for Eddie Sutton's resignation at OSU. What is ironic is that Sutton was the coach that gave the tool a second chance and Gottleib finished his career at Oklahoma St. How grateful he is!
