What kind of battery life do you all get out of your batteries? What types do you use?

Generally I get three to four years but I buy the cheaper deap cycle.

3 to 4 years the last set I bought was the Walmart Evertstart Maxx, here's a tip ask for the manager and ask what kind of deal you can get if you buy say 3 or 4 (I have a 36 volt trolling motor) I save a bunch!!! Trick is charge as soon as you get off the water, and keep warm in the winter on a trickle charger. Deep Cycle for sure.

I have run AC Delco marine and they have last for 8 years plus. They are connected with an on board charger. I never let them go uncharged no longer that 12 hours . . my charger is always plugged in at my storage. Hope this of help to you

I put two Optimax batteries in my boat in November of 2006 and they're still going strong. I had them out a couple of weeks ago on Cumberland and they were just and strong at the end of the day as they were when I first dropped the trolling motor early in the morning.

I have 1 2003 still in my boat,replaced an 03 last year !Everstart big yellow batt.
I do put acid in mine when they need water. Charge as soon as I get home.

I have a interstate 850 cranking battery i have used for trolling motor and am amazed that it is still strong and i got it in feb of 2003. I just put it in my runabout as a cranking battery now. I have never had a battery that was non-deep cycle that has been used as a trolling battery that lasted that long. Guess it just one one those rare long lasting batteries.

You guys are great how do you all get your batterys to last so long? I bought a new boat in 2010 and at had Interstates 2 for the 24volt trolling motor and one for the motor and etc.. I done been though one battery and in my old boat I would burn Wal mart batterys up in one year or less. I ve never had much luck with batterys. Not sure on board charger are that great easy but hard on batterys. I think. I hate interstate batterys.

Interstate.....Everstart.....ACDelco...Optimas (which are made by Interstate/JCI) are all good batteries and should last longer than that. Keep them charged with the correct type/size of charger, charge them as soon as possible after use, don't let them stay in sub freezing conditions if possible, make sure they have clean connections,etc.

He speaks the truth. Make sure you're charing them at the proper voltage and charge them as soon as you get home. I've got my 2006 Optimas on automatic chargers in the garage and leave them hooked up all the time.

Hey, guys im telling you i keep my boat plugged in with the onboard charger the boat is new with new batterys. With the interstate battery im good for about 10 hour maybe 12 if the wind not blowing. My old boat if i used walmart batterys i may make a season out of them. I check the water every month I fish just about every day after work and every weekend im some where fishing a tournament or just fishing. I have never had much luck with batterys. Would love to know what the best is? Opitma are so high but why buy when the batterys in the boat are under warranty.
