    sauger at ohio river

    The river was a little dirty water temp was 35. The bite was a little slow but boy was they good ones. My buddy and I caught 15. Ten of them was 2 pound plus. We were there all day did not have fight to get a spot two other boats was all there was. windy but fun. Going again Friday.

    Thanks for the report,glad you caught some good fish even if it was a little slow.I haven't had much luck with sauger this past fall and winter.What part of the river were you fishing,boat or bank?

    We were fishing at cannelton. Went again Friday. Caught about the same but alot smaller. River on the rise and alot muddier. Looked at river forcast going higher. Happens every time fish start biting river gets wild.

    Congrats guys. Got to catch em when you can. Been about 3 years since I was able to fish the Ohio. What were you using, minnows, jigging curly tails or spoons, etc..

    Never made it to Cannelton, but spent a lot of time at Newburgh jigging spoons off the lock wall or drowning minnows while drifting below the dam.

    We fished Markland yesterday....We smelled like skunk when we headed home...There were 6-8 boats in the area..some fish were cuught, but very slow....Great to be on the water again tho.
