    Mitch Daniels takes on LABOR

    Check this out........

    INDIANA LEGISLATIVE UPDATE

House Bill 1585: Seeks to permanently ban collective bargaining for state employees, criminalize the encouragement and participation in strikes by public employees and takes away the pensions of those who do. The bill also prohibits even voluntary collection of dues by local and state governments as well as school employers and disproportionately hurts the ability of women and minorities to bargain for better wages and working conditions. It passed out of committee and now moves to the House floor for a vote.

House Bill 1216: Prohibits project labor agreements and renders Indiana’s common construction requirements useless. Specifically the legislation exempts from common construction wage requirements projects under $1 million and all school and university projects. Currently only projects under $150,000 are exempt from this law. Passing this bill would lower the wages of Indiana’s construction workers and open the door to out-of-state workers.

House Bill 1203: An unnecessary bill designed to interfere with worker's ability to designate a union to represent them, if passed the National Labor Relations Board has already pledged to sue the state because the measure is unconstitutional.

House Bill 1538: Bars local units of government from setting a minimum wage higher than a state minimum wage, restricting an important way to put upward pressure on wages.

Senate Bill 273: Like House Bill 1585, this bill seeks to permanently ban collective bargaining for state employees and criminalize the encouragement and participation in strikes by public employees.

Senate Bill 333: Seeks to eliminate the use of all Projects Labor Agreements on publicly funded construction projects.

Senate Bill 575: Limits collective bargaining rights of Indiana’s teachers to the point of dismantling them. If passed, only wages and certain fringe benefits may be bargained. This bill eliminates bargaining of hours and days, opening the door to extremely long hours and a longer work week with no additional compensation.

Senate Bill 001: Allows for outside agencies to be used to evaluate teachers and for teachers to evaluate other teachers. Teachers will not have input into the evaluation tool. The State Board of Education will have to approve the tool chosen by a school corporation, limiting local control. There is no appeal process under this bill if a teacher is fired unjustly. The Superintendent of Public Instruction may revoke a teacher’s license at will.

House Bill 1002: Allows for charters to be established by mayors of 2nd class cities or a majority vote of a school board. The bill allows for acquisition of under-utilized buildings for $1 per year for up to 20 years. The school corporation must maintain the building. Charters have first option at any under-utilized building, meaning the corporation cannot choose to sell it if a charter wants the building. It also requires that only 50 percent of the teachers in a charters need to be licensed.

House Bill 1003: Creates vouchers to allow public money to be diverted to private schools. If passed public schools are estimated to lose $110 million.

Thats alot to digest. We as a country are headed for some of the worst times in recent history. We are broke and trying to fix alot of the problems is gonna cause tons of protests and potential riots.
I know the elected officials have a tuff job but so what they wanted the jobs so now it's time to earn their pay. Starts with Congress to me and the POTUS. The whole lot have lied, played games with our money and basically sold us out.
I'm not for Unions and their red tape gubment style bully tactics. As a rule I do hope they get knocked down a peg or two.
Obamy has some tough decisions to make as well as the officials of the individual states. Man what a mess....

I've never been a fan of unions, but unions were a useful tool in the private sector many, many years ago. Their time has now passed.

As far as public sector, I don't think unions should be allowed.

And one other item: When Washington DC or any other government has a snow day and tells all non-essential employees to not report for work, FIRE THEM. What part about non-essential do you not understand?

Mitch Daniels is the poorest excuse for a Governor in the United States....sure hope he runs for president, that way we can be sure to have a democrat in office for at least four more....years. That might be close to enough time to get the mess that Georgie Boy and the "Anti-Workers Rights" republicans left for us straightened out.........

For me, reading some of these bills is like reading scripture from a bible in that I have to read them and re-read them to try and figure out the meaning...of course the same thing applies when reading sections of the National Electric Code too. At any rate, can someone put this into laymens terms for me? Is House Bill 1216 related to Prevailing Wage Rates? If it is then the Prevailing Wage Rates in Indiana for state/federal construction projects used $100,000.00 dollars as the bench mark, any project estimated at costing over $100,000.00 dollars then Prevailing Wage Rates must be used for labor, whereas in Kentucky the Prevailing Wage Rate is $250,000.00 dollars and has been for quite some time.

So is this bill in reference to Prevailing Wage or not?

WAKE UP........unions are destroying the FABRIC of America. Companies are leaving due to the cost of doing business. Unions drive up the cost of everything.

Americans have grown lazy, un-motivated, uneducated and DEPENDENT on the government, while developing countries continue to thrive. If we don't get our work ethic back and our AMERICAN SPIRIT back, I'm afraid for our future.

    Here is something to ponder........

I got into a rather heated argument with a friend of mine who owns his own business, and has probably 30 people working for him in 2 locations. He is rather successful. He also is a STRONG HEADED Leftist Liberal. Pro Union, Pro Health Care, Pro this, pro that.........bla. bla. bla.

So I told him.........how about I come to your building and protest outside and ORGANIZE your 30 workers and then DEMAND health care, and a 10% increase in pay.

His answer........I will FIRE THEM. This is his right, but isn't this directly against his collective bargaining mentality??

Imagine that...........When you turn this crap around they don't "get it".

Unions do nothing but collect money, fund SOCIALISTS, and blackmail Corporations. It is time to eliminate collective bargaining. It has NO PLACE in this global economy.

    Later,

    Geo
