Everytime you buy a fish hook a reel rod line etc. you pay a tax that is payed back to the states based on the number of license sales. The same thing apply's to you're boat sticker.
    Do you think the legislature would fund WMA programs, fish hatcheries, stocking etc. if they could control that money?
    Take a look at the Missouri Department of Fish and Wildlife. They are set up on a this type of system. The public opportunities in hunting and fishing alone are unbelievable.

    Missouri has an annual budget of around $150 million...KY is only around $50 million, assuming they'll get the same average of licenses purchased the previous year (which continues to go down). Missouri has guys lined up to be COs, biologists, etc. for the higher pay and for the greater opportunities available - most are non-Missouri residents willing to relocate. The ones that don't make it in, and have no where else to go, end up in KY. KY gets the bottom of the barrel. It makes me sick.

    Take a look at the annual MDC report, the proof is there:

    I continue to have disgust in the lacking that we have in the KDFWR. They are in the dark ages, because no one will step up to help them out and get up to par with other states.

    60% of their money comes from SALES TAXES.......it is a 1/8th percent or something like that on EVERYTHING sold in the state. And it is protected.

    I don't like any new taxes, but a GUARANTEED TAX like this may not be a bad idea.

    Conservation Sales Tax . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .$93,854,189
    Permit Sales . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .$32,517,080
    Federal Reimbursements . . . . . . . . . . . . . .$21,475,595

    EXACTLY! That very first line is the difference between KY and MO. KY does not have that first line.

    $157,809,718 - $93,854,189 = $63,955,529 -----> pretty much what KY works with ea. yr.

    I could handle a 1/8th percent increase in sales tax for better hunting and fishing.

    Something so small can really add up. I just don't understand why no one proposes this or why KDFWR doesn't push to get it. I guess the knee-jerk reaction that most people have against taxes is why. The whole landscape of KDFWR and their programs would change for the better, and we would all benefit from it.

    In my opinion, its all part of dumbing down america.Defense spending? it makes jobs for a lot of folks, but its sort of stupid, the world is changing, we need aircraft carriers to protect us? You cant hide them anymore, they are tracked by satelites, can be destroyed my a missle that costs one tenth of the cost. A lot of our "defense" budget id to third world countrys gratis.2028 thats the yeart when we become a minority in our own country.I'll be gone, butmy grand kids will enjoy the benefits of the illegal hiring of these folks, and the support they got from special interests who wont be in charge then.
