I have the HDS 7 but before it came with sidescan. Fish for stripers mostly and it does a great job of identifing bait and the fish. Have not had any problems with it. This is its third season.

I am looking in to getting one of these with the structure scan and sidescan to put onto the boat cause BPS has it all in a bundle price for the boat show season sale. I was wondering if anyone has used the lowrance HDS yet. I have heard good things about it and i am a big lowrance fan... I have a X 135 in the front and 520 in the dash but want to upgrade and put the 520 up front and the hds 7 on a ram mount on the dash.... Any info good or bad would be helpful..
Thanks,

Although I don't own one, I work at Bass Pro in Clarksville, IN, and get a lot of feedback on the units. Even though I don't prefer the HDS systems, they seem to be doing much better than last year. We've been selling a lot more, no complaints on water damage any more, and they have fixed a lot of the bugs in the software that were causing problems when running Navionics cards. However, I still get sporadic complaints on the customer service dept., and are still having issues running the Navionics Platinum charts (i.e., sluggish processing, occasional lock-ups), but nothing too serious. Most people who I've heard feedback from lately as far as the actual usage of the units say they love them, except for these few minor complaints on occasion.
I do not know the BPS price but BOE marine has the HDS7 83/200 for $868 less the $100 rebate. The LSS-1 module is now $548.17 less $50 rebate. Also check and make sure they are new units and not refurbs from BPS
Also call and tell them you're a BBC forum member and get 5%off the total.
Thanks for the info, ProV and BassAddict,
But the wife says NO more investment until I put more fish in the freezer.
We did real well last fall in the White Oak area, but have not been since December.
This is my 3rd year , the first two have been great sounds like they are cheaper as I paid 1250 the first year out.
I was going for the LSS-1 Structure scan but have opted not to as I think it wouldn't make that much difference in Striper fishing. Just my thoughts.
