    Re: Bassmaster Classic Results

Remember this. At a NASCAR event there are cameras EVERYWHERE. They also have trailers for spare batteries, and a helicopter that literally hovers over the race ALL day to simply relay signals from each camera to a booth. That booth is a VERY expensive trailer hauled to the race that has the communications gear required to send the live signal via satellite to a network where it is redistributed to the viewer. I am just guessing here, but i bet sponsors pay more for one race than the BASS sponsors fork out over a whole season. I think live coverage would be way to cost prohibitive. They would have to find ways of paying for teh equipment, qualified workers that have experience in live production. Its gonna take a bigger sponsor than Ranger Boats to pull it off. Then you have to remember that in a whole day fishing a tourney, there may only be a few hours of good film. Could you imagin watching the Pittsburg Classic Live? Hours of watching guys workin finesse lures with VERY few actual catches?

Then what happens when you have 4-5 anglers who happen to have a good fish on at one time? Which one do you show?

Comparing an FLW tournament to the Superbowl of Bass fishing is crazy. The classic should be shown the day it is fished. They do it every weekend at the PGA tournaments. The film is recorded and edited and then it is broadcast, It does not have to be real time sitting and watching someone for an hour before they hook up. The cameras are already out there recording the fishing it would not be an issue, they just chose not to do it. You guys are just making excuses. As for Versus it is has the best fishing shows on television and no other network compares, certainly not ESPN.

First I wasn't comparing the Classic to an FLW tournament and I think the Super Bowl of Bass Fishing title is worn out since not all of the best anglers fish B.A.S.S. any longer.

Secondly you have no clue what the production crews have to fight with to get a decent show together. Also, ESPN has nothing to do with it anymore, it is strictly on the new owners of B.A.S.S This is not making excuses, these are FACTS, go backstage at a Classic once, or get out on the water with one of the anglers once and see what happens in the Delta. If you can't or won't try and do either of these things than at least read the book "Bass Madness" by Ken Schultz and you will see why telvising fishing live is not feasible.

My apologies I meant the World Series of Bass fishing. I have to disagree I think the best Bass anglers are in the Elite series. I have not worked on a production crew so maybe your right. I think next year they should just let Iaconelli give all the guys the Hat-cams he uses in his going Ike videos, that would be better than watching it a week later. Why don't they just go ahead and show the entire tournament in one day instead of stretching it out all weekend. I mean whats the point? We already know KVD caught 900 lbs of fish the last day...

I don't know why they did not show it on tape delay last weekend. Not sure if that was an ESPN decision or a B.A.S.S. move.

As for the best bass anglers and where they fish, I don't think you could make an argument for either major circuit. There are some legendary anglers fishing FLW as well who accomplished a lot in B.A.S.S. I wouldn't be suprised to see some of the top FLW anglers move over to B.A.S.S. now that ESPN is not the owner. That is part of why Jay Yelas and Luke Clausen started only fishing FLW.

I was joking about the IU/UK thing.

"maybe the difference was that the others fishing around him were pro's and not locals???" I was guessing why he acted differently.....you left out my ??? in your quote.....heck I don't know?

Maybe the difference was he was so far behind he didn't have a chance of winning anyway.

As for Byron Velvick every time he is in the top 10 other than Clearlake is when he supposedly finds the same spot as others in practice.
