    Reel questions

I have nine rods on deck at all times for bass fishing. Three spinning reels with line recomendations of 6# line on a 5'6" rod, 8# on a 6' rod, and 10# on a 6'6" rod. All are Touney rods. Three low profile baitcasters, at 12# line all 6'6" rods. Three barrel baitcasters at 10# line with 7' rods. The low profile and barrel reels are all Bionic Blade rods. I fish Ky. Lake about 30-40 days a year. What baits would you use on each rod, and why? I know thats a lot to ask but I need someone else'e opinion. Thanks!

    Re: Reel questions

Depends on the type of rod. I have a little 6 foot rod med action fast tip with a Quantum PT baitcaster on it I use to throw short accurate casts with a chatterbait or a spinnerbait around wood. The fast tip and med action lets you feel the bait better and the shorter rod allows me to pinopint my accuracy. One of my 6'6 rods is med hvy I use for plastics. Other is med action fast tip I use for cranking and jerkbaits. My 7 foot rods are for the junk fishing. Carolina rigging, frog fishing, flippin a jig and so on. With a 7 foot rod you can get alot more casing distance than with a 6 footer because the bait loads up better. All my spinning tackle is used for smaller baits and small topwater baits. Hope this helps some.

Since you asked. I hope you realize you might get differing opinions. Unless you are taking the wife crappie fishing, I'd lean the spinning rods in the corner of the garage.. Keep a topwater on a 6'6, jerkbait on another 6'6 and a jig on the last 6'6. A worm rigged on a 7, a swivel for the last two 7's, which would stay in the rod locker.

I take it you don't like to bass fish with spinning outfits. What do you mean by putting swivels on the last two 7 footers.

Swivels is what I call the snap at the end of your line so that one can change baits without re-tying.

Depends on the time of year, but here is what i would do.. This is just me. Have the spinning rigs set up for finesse and leave em in the rod locker unless you need em. Drop Shot, Shakey Head, and maybe a Fluke on the third one. The 6'6" rods, well it depends on their power and i assume they are all fast action rods. T-Rigs, Jigs, Spinners, TopWater, Shallow Cranks, Lipless Cranks, Jerkbaits... all sorts of options. As fo rteh 7 footers, i can almost guarantee one of them would have a deep divin crank in the summer on Ky Lake, a Jig on one, and a T-Rig on the other.
