Hey guys,
Although I have fished Nolin my whole life I have never been this early in the season. I got into crappie fishing at KY lake last year and am planning on going to Nolin March 13-15. Any tips or ideas on how to catch em' or where to look for that time of year. I also saw a post about someone catching some white bass. That interests me some as well. Anyways, this is my first post to the site and im glad to see several people fishing Nolin. Thanks for any help!!

I have had some success putting in at Moutardier and going right to the 1st cove w/standing timber. The crappie should be trying to go shallow at that time. Fish twelve to two foot until you find the depth they are using that day. Much depends on water clarity and temp. Also, watch out for the 100+ boat bass tournament leaving from Moutardier. Good luck and bring your fillet knife.Hey guys,

Quite a few guys fishing croppie yesterday above wax. They were fishing from bank and boats. Most everyone I spoke with were catching crappie in waters about 6' and less. Don't know what they were using, but most were fishing with a bobber.
Usually do OK that time of year fishing the sharper chunk rock banks 2'-10' depending on where you mark em.
Ive only fished crappie one time and that was last year at KY. We were targeting chunk rock as well and did have some luck, but that was towards the 1st of April so I didnt know if they would be holding in deeper water around mid March. My uncle religiously throws a road runner and does pretty well. I think my initial game plan will be road runners on one line and bobber and minnow on the other.
fishing has been good because of the warm weather, slabs are being caught in the mouths of the fingers in the trees about 6feet to 15 feet deep using minnows water temp is running around 42 degrees water level is runnig about 20 feet below summer pool lot of bank exposed hope this help you out . and good luck fishing and be safe.

They very well may be deeper. I move in and out in an S type pattern until I locate them. We've had them go from deeper to shallower as the day went on before at that time.
