This pond has 8-10lb bass in it....no exageration....So i might be afraid of putting a 10 inch grass carp in it...The only way we've figured out to catch those giant bass are with good sized live bluegill....talk about a blast

Catching those big grass carp accidental or on purpose is like holding onto a run away freight train.

Fishin I think your getting threads mixed up.
We use to do that years ago in some lakes and ponds, that is fun as heck. We use to hook them right in the top of the back and spray them with that old Fish Formula you may remember that stuff. We always used a large float, what a blast.
if the pond isn't stocked, the cheapest fix is the drain the pond. I say this because starting over is sometimes the best way to go. What keeps weeds and moss under control is water clarity. This is best accomplished with steep sloping banks to 4+ feet depth, liming and fertilizing to produce the correct algal bloom, phytoplankton. Water will look brownish green in fertile ponds. This also allows your pond to carry more lbs/ fish per acre. No, I appreciate the info that's given. I'm just looking for a cheaper fix. I've still got to stock bluegill and bass. Before that happens I want to make sure the moss is under control.
Just looking to clean it up a bit so I can take my kids out back and watch them have fun. My 5 year old is talking about fishing non stop.
Now if you really just want to place for your kids to catch fish, dyeing the pond and stocking channel cats would be the best short term solution.
The is actually shared by myself and four neighbors. My neighbors have about as much gumption as a shiny new nickel. I trying to make the best out of a bad situation.
It's not a very big pond so we throw the bluegill out weightless and kinda work it back to the bank.....usually theyll follow it in and you actually get to watch them eat it....it's way off from what i thought watching how they act around something theyre about to eat....you usually think of them just flying in and eating it but amazed me how long they would sit there and look at it till the bluegill took off swimming and they thought it was gonna get away....theyd follow it till it slows down and then eat it....
