I think its similar to Ford vehicles say you should use motorcraft oil. Which is also a Ford product. I DO use the quicksilver in my Mercury, only because that is what was used in it by the previous owners since the motor was brand new. I know it is more expensive than some others. I have been told before that as long as the bottle says TCW3 that its all the same. A buddy of mine & his Dad both have Skeeters & they only use Yamalube in there Yamaha. They claim it runs better. I don't know about that though. My cousin has a Johnson & they only use the Johnson oil in it, I am not sure what there reason is other than my Uncle used it in there.

To answer your question, I don't know if there is a difference or if it a preference, or confidence thing. Like Ford vs. Chevy thing. You know.
