I have a 1989 48 hp Evinrude that is leaking oil from the lower unit. Anyone have suggestions on where to take it for repair in or near Louisville?

there are two places you should first look for a lower unit oil leak. That would be your upper and lower gearcase fill plugs. Check to be sure the gasket, o-ring, rubber washer is intact. Replace if rough or looks cracked. When you open the gearcase look at the oil. If it looks like chocolate milk you have water contamination and may have cracked something with freeze. More than likely its a bad seal. Even with contamination (unless its really bad) the oil and water mix does not freeze hard enough to crack housing. Probably a simple fix.
M&C outboards in Shepherdsville does good work.
boats and more in Lebanon Jct. Chris is really good and really reasonable. Rbuilt water pump, new oil sending unit and new oil tank for $196 parts and labor. Oil tank was 60, oil send unit was 38 and parts for water pump were 47 so his labor was only around 60 he is going to rebuild 2 carbs for me in a few weeks 100 for parts and 50 to rebuild and install.
