Calcutta vs Chronarch. Please post any opinions about which way to go. I'm more concerned with fishability, quality and durability comparisons than the more obvious size, weight, shape, etc. I've never used either as they are a little beyond what I can normally justify but I've got an opportunity have one or the other, though my workplace.
Thanks in advance
Mike

No experience with the Chronarch, but the Calcuttas are awesome. I also like the Curados.

I've got a Chronarch and I like it better than the Calcutta basically becuase the lower profile fits my hand better than the round Calcutta. Both are good strong reels, it really just depends on what fits your hand and what your comfortable with, I don't think you'd go wrong with either reel.
If it says Shimano on it you can't go wrong either way!
I like my Curado; but I also have a Citica which is a cheaper reel I actually like the Citica better. I wonder if I need to adjust the Curado in some way? It does not cast as well. I have the E5 as opposed to the E7. I have played with the braking and noticed some improvement. It just does not seem as smooth as the Citiica?
I think Chronarch and Calcuttas are way out of my price range at this time. I would like to try them before I bought one.
I have fished nothing but Shimano since I started fishing 15years ago. I have had all the upper class shimano reels from the curado to the calais. I would have to say the chronarch is one of my favorites. I have two older calcuttas but don't use them anymore. They are great reels but the chronarch to me is much better. The weight and size are important things to me when I fish. But it really is a matter of what you prefer. The new core reels are very nice as well. Hope that helps.

I have no experience with Calcuttas, but my goto reel is a Chronarch. I have 4 of them ranging from 4 years old to 1 year old. They are all great. I prefer the low-profile baitcaster, so it is just a better fit for me than the Calcutta.

I have a chronarch that five or six years old great reel.
Thanks for the replies. I went with the Calcutta. I have used 4600 and 5600 (or 5000 D's back in the day)Ambassaduers most of my life and the round reels don't really bother me. I was happy when they moved the brake to the same side of the reel as the handle. In fact, sometimes I think it helps for me to use a low profile for a while and then switch to a round reel.
Thanks again.
